Washers on starter bolts? Is this OK?

Is this an acceptable method for installation of starter bolts? As you can see, the threads sheared off in the block and the rest of the bolt fell out into the bilge.

I've got about 40 hours since the engine builds. I've checked plugs a few times along the way. Plugs have a clean burn, light tan/brown on insulator, but get sooty after a long idle.

Follow-up: Changed drives from 1.36 to 1.5...

Follow-up: Changed drives from 1.36 to 1.5 yesterday, still spinning Bravo 4-blade 26P props. Saw ~5500rpm and planed easier for sure. Sounds much happier too.

Valid points. I do use the hatches for the same purpose when beached. There's really more than enough speakers elsewhere already, anyhow. Thanks for the input!

I was planning to stay original as much as reasonably possible, though I do like the speaker pods I've seen some folks mount to the underside of the hatches. Guess I'll just have to take the hatch...

Update: Drives are 1.36:1

Also swapped to new fuel filter heads and lines/valves. Now 8 psi fuel pressure at idle.

Engine builder asked me if the drives were 1.36. We have been working under the assumption that they are 1.5s but have not confirmed. Will put that on my list of things to check this weekend.

So running yesterday, fuel pressure over 4000 rpm drops to 5 or 5.5 psi. Opening up the hatch vents did not improve top end. I forgot to try running with the hatch up.

Haven't had a chance to run it yet - but I did notice that the inside surface of the 3 vents on each side of the hatch, had 3 layers of tight plastic mesh, which couldn't have been doing anything...
