I have a '96 280 with 540 and a little over 600 hp and run a labbed 30 bravo by Mike Hall. He says I really should use a 32, but don't have the extra money. I have turned the prop as high as 5600...

Oh, by the way a boat your size will not benefit any from trim tabs for running to get max speed.

Your motor should run in the 5000 rpm range. Sounds like you need a smaller prop to get more rpms and that would also alow you to use less trim cutting down on the bouncing. Good Luck

If you have a stock 454(not mag), a 23 bravo three blade or 22 bravo 1 four blade would be best, based on the boat I had with the same motor.

I have a Velocity 280 with approx 600 hp and same gears and stock bravo drive. I run a stage I lab finished 30 bravo 4 blade. If your motor has a lot of torque, a 28 will probably rev up too much....
