I'm not saying 80 is bad at all, but when you are in a 42' boat, 80 doesn't seem quite as fast as if you are in say a 29' boat. I had a 35' Ex wtih twin 496 Mag HO's and I ended up selling it...

Obviously it makes a difference if we are talking Ex v. Lightning, but with an Ex, I'm thinking a 42 with 500's will be hard pressed to hit 80 everyday. To me at least, that is too slow for that big...

Would boosting rpm be effective since I am already at my maximum horsepower. The merc. book says that 4900-5000 RPM is max horsepower.
