2 496 HO's
Motors run perfect. every once in a while port motor simply dies. will be running perfect and all of a sudden its dead. Shift to neutral, drop the throttle turn key fires right back up....

I may be wrong but aren't the 525's closed cooled and not subject to frozen block? I know there are other areas that do get fresh water but could that have caused milky oil due to freezing?

Don't know if these pics make sense but there is a noticable "wedge" facing foward from the bottom of the transom. My old boat did not have these.

Wow,
there is that much of a difference in the 302 and 30 Outlaw? They weigh about the same from the specs. Thats a bummer the 302 is 5+mph slower than a similar boat wth the same power. Never would...
