I have 625 hp in a 26 ft wellcraft nova, a heavy boat. I ran a flow torque hub and stripped it out pretty quickly, I would recommend a solid hub. I've not had a problem since I switched 2-3 years ago.

By the way, a drive pump will drive a tab much faster than a tab pump. I know, I have drive pumps running my tabs, and wow, I just bump my tab rockers and get instant tab response.

Where does the dip stick tube enter the oil pan? Some seal with o-ring where they go into the pan, if it isn't there, it will leak only when running.
