Re: Alpha Gen II Separating Lower from Upper

Nothing broke that I can see, it just locked up. The upper is very clean, no chips or shavings. The lower is also clean. The oil is free of shavings as well. I'll probably just buy an upper.

Re: Alpha Gen II Separating Lower from Upper

Hillbilly, it all made perfect sense, especially the part about the bolt UNDER the anode! :D I actually found it before your last reply, was working the drive over with a 2x4 when I saw it. It...

Re: Alpha Gen II Separating Lower from Upper

Yes, I've pulled both the trim tab bolt and the nut behind the front anode anode. The front of the drive seems free but the rear is still tight. I'll try getting some oil between the upper and...

Question Alpha Gen II Separating Lower from Upper

Any trick to separating the lower on an alpha? Mine seems to be welded together. The drive is locked up. Could they be seized together by the drive shaft? Any suggestions?

Thousand Oaks, about 50 miles NW of L.A.(far enough!)
I miss all of the easy access to water that I had in Michigan. It stops raining here in May, and doesn't start again until November (not a...

Re: Alpha One Problem

I've been looking at the knock-offs but the boat may occasionally be used on the pacific so I don't want to risk it. I've asked PowerQuest if an Alpha SS would be suitable for the boat, a 185XLT,...

Re: Alpha One Problem

Live and learn! Here is my excuse! I recently moved across the country and many of my tools, including my lube pump was lost. I bought quart bottles of lube, not tubes, and the nearest marine...

Re: Alpha One Problem

Unhappy Alpha One Problem

I think I seized my drive over the weekend. It was my own fault, I filled from the top vent in a rush and forgot to top it off before running. One question is, should I rebuild or upgrade. It's a...

Re: lake michigan cottage

Hey guys, thanks for the great history lesson on the 185XLT! I bought my 1991 PowerQuest in the summer of 1994. We moved from Michigan to SoCal about 1.5 years ago and I wouldn't consider selling...
