I talked at length with Brit Lilly regarding this engine and he advised me total hours were irrelevant. Also I have no way to check them. He felt the compression test was mandatory.

Water does not always mean there is rot. Freshwater is worser than saltwater. Crappy pine is worser than say oak. BTW You can treat the wood after drying with glycol and nothing will live in it....
