I am in the process of changing my theromstats on 500 hp's, efi. Mercury stock thermostat call for the 140 degree thermostat. Is it better to run the 160 degree thermostat instead of the 140?

There is a 1986 357 being parted out on craigslist detroit. Couldn't tell from the pictures if the silent thunder was damaged since there was a tarp over that portion of the transom.

I have a 353 Fastech and went from Bravo 1's to XR's a year ago. I went from 81.9 MPH GPS to 78 MPH GPS. This has not changed in cool weather of hot.
