How to disconnect steering cable, TRS ???

I am removing my transom assemblys to have work done, I cannot figure out how to remove the steering cable from the inner plate, I have the mercruiser book but it is not clear how to do it, I don't want to break anything, can anyone help?

you have to pull the pin out that attaches to the hydraylic assist steering assembly. Sometimes you can just turn the wheel or shake the drives and it will break free, you may have to do both.
Next, loosen the nut that holds the steering cable to the steering assembly (the one with the grease fitting)
Once thats completely loose, it should slide out fairly easily. With mine I had a clearance issue and had to remove the whole assembly to get the new one in.
For that you have to remove that threaded sleeve that has that nut with the spring lookin' thing on the port side.
The nut thats staring you roght in the face on the hyd. assy. that when you remove it it has another nut inside does nothing, leave it alone.
I hope this helps a little, I'll look at mine tommorow to give a better description.
