Question, I don't know what the difference is will someone explain it to me. I see boats with a whipple set up like a ac unit, then I see big belt blowers on top? Pros and Con's?

the whipples, B&M's, etal are on the top(except 500efi) and the vortechs are on the side

Your really talking roots vs centrifugal. Roots = eye candy, centrifugal =effiecient hp. I'm partial to centrifugals because I have one. It takes a TON of hp to spin a roots blower (parasitic loss). My boat cruising at 3800 at 58-62 mphwill still get around 2 miles per gallon and can run almost 100 at wot,my bud with a roots gets closer to 1 mpg cruising and runs 75 mph wot but the compariso's not apples to apples,Smitty

roots style blowers make more boost at low RPM's. but they cost you in efficiency.
If you have a BIG V, or a Cat hull, roots may be better to help get the boat on plane. If you have a normal V or small V, or even a small cat, Vortech or ProCharger is better because you will get better efficiency and less cylinder pressure at low RPM's.

Not bashing or anything but if Centrifugal superchargers are so great why doesnt any body build one as an engine package vs. just being sold as an "add-on" modification? Also isn't a Weiand, B&M and Moonyham a "roots" (i.e. rotor) type blower and a whipple acually a "screw" type? Although they look similar from the outside (except one gets air from the top and the other from the rear) they are quite different inside.
