Default Stellings box on 25 OL questions....

I have added a Stelling box....I am looking for a higher X and but unsure which position to start with...... All the way up or the middle position. The only thing that has me a bit worried is in the middle position the box hangs approx 1/4" below the notch. Should this have any affect on performance? I also have a 2" shorty going on at same time......where should i start? The pic below is not mine but similar. This one shows the box about 1/2" above the notch. Mine would be about 3/4" below this setup.

Just using it as a reference of where the bottom end of the box will sit......a visual for people.

Wayne if you are using a stock lower and a Stellings box then start with the box all the way up. If you have a shorty too. Start with the box in the middle or bottom.

BTW - it isnt easy to "adjust" the box. It is a 4-5 hour job. So, try to get it right the first time. Look back at Wild Cards posts. I think he has some numbers/measurements in there...

Thanks Keith; I am using a 2 shorty and was thinking middle position also, only trouble with the middle position is it hanging below the notch and it possibly wont seal correctly.

I have read Wildcards posts over and over and it looks like he preferred 3 1/2" "X" dim...I have not been able to take any measurements of mine yet though.

Keep in mind Wayne that Wildcard had a 600sci when he was doing these tests and HP makes a big difference in setup. You only have the stock 496HO in there.

Right Keith ?

The lack of the rubber coupler and the u-joint vibration
trips the knock sensor and retards the timing quite a bit.

I have only heard of one incident where it set off the knock sensors. I know of two other installs, both on 25 OL that had no issues one was from the factory though who knows what they did.
