I just bought a used Dodge truck from a guy that had his company name painted on the doors. What is the best way to remove it without damagingmthe paint? A guy told me to use Easy Off oven cleaner but I would think anything that would take the lettering off would also take the paint off. Anybody have any experience with this?

I am no paint and body guy, but I have removed painted letters from gel coat by wet sanding with 1500 or so, then buff it out.
I am no expert on clear coats, but I hate the sound of using harsh chemicals for cleaning ovens on my truck's finish. Maybe wetsand with some 1500 or 2000 and buff?
Where's a paint guy when you need him????!?!!?

This is second hand info, I've not done it personally. Use a small paint brush or q-tip to apply the easy off to the lettering only. Don't let it sit very long either. Trick is to get the letters off without letting the easy-off get on the other paint.

Yup oven cleaner & A light buffing afterwards works like a charm. My old mans done it on his trucks for years. Spray it wait a few min. & then a good wiping, may need to give it two shots like that depending on the paint used for the lettering.
