Diaphram Bilge Pumps died again
#1
After having both pumps die twice now (first time motors died, but not both pumps at once, this time both run but won't pump anything and died the same time) in the last 4 years I want to switch the boat to more conventional (and MUCH cheaper) centrifugal pumps. Problem is the current pumps sit up on the side of the hull and run pick-up hoses down to the bottom rear of the bilge. To put new centrifugal pumps in the same pickup location requires being able to reach the bottom of the boat which I can't without pulling the motors or growing an extra 2 feet on my arms.
Has anyone swapped out the factory Formula diaphram pumps for centrifugals? Where did you mount them? Any ideas other than extreme body contorsions how I can mount them down where the current pickups are without pulling the motors to reach?
Thanks - Greg
