Default 3 qts. of drive oil. Where did it go?

Filled my drive today with Royal Purple. Pumped three quarts into the drain/fill hole while patiently eyeballing the vent hole, waiting for it to puke. Never happened. Drive was slightly raised (only a few degrees), so I lowered it, expecting the oil to come gushing out the vent hole. Nada. There are no leaks and no odor of Royal Purple (phew) anywhere.

According to the manual, my TRS (incl. reservoir) takes 81 oz. to fill.

3 qts. = 96 oz.

Should I just top-off the reservoir until full?

???

I did fill from the bottom. The bottom plug is the drain/fill hole, no?

3 qts. later, pumped UP into the drive from the BOTTOM drain/fill hole and still no oil coming from the vent.

Great news. That's the answer I was hoping for. What the hell good are manuals if they're inaccurate?

So, instead of gushing Royal Purple all over trying to re-install the pump, can I put the last quart in from the top or no?

I think you will have to put a clean pan under the drive, screw out the filler plug, put your finger over the hole, then remove it and install the fitting with the hose attached to the pump. Curse a lot, clean a little...but fill the drive from the bottom.
