Default Bravo 1 won't go into reverse

First run of the season. Left the ramp and it was hard to get into reverse, both drives. Probably went in and out of reverse about 10 times all day. End of the day port drive would not go in at all. Shifter felt like it engaged, but still no reverse.

Motors and drives were pulled a few weeks ago. Could this be an adjustment issue or other problem?

Thanks

Same thing happened on my drive after I pulled it. I streched the cable in the transom assembly. Adjustments on the manifold mounted selector fixed it.

Check the drive by disconnecting the shifter linkage at the manifold where the two cables connect. If you can get it to go into reverse there without the shifter connected that will tell you an adjustment is needed. Make sure all the nuts are tight on that selector, something may have moved. If the cable going to the drive moves freely, while motor is running, and feels like it is going thru the detents and still no reverse, then internal problems more than likely.

Let us know what you find.

I am new member to this site but, I just worked on a cruiser with bravos. The lady was stuck in reverse with the one drive. Turned out to be the shifter linkage in the drive that gets hooked to the shift cable and that operates the cone clutch was broke into two pieces. It seems to me you don't ever want to shift the shifters while the engines are not running. The original parts are NA, so they were replaced with the upgrade parts.

Good Luck

That is true about never shifting a Bravo without it being turned over or running. It stretches the cables bad. Ed
