I saw a couple earlier posts regarding this but still had a few questions. OK I have an 89 454 mag with I guess the earlier thermostat housing. (6 outlet).
Can I use the blue-style fel-pro gasket material and make them myself? Also how would Hylomar work in this type of application? Would you apply any sealant to the cork gasket or is that not done? Anything I am missing? THanks again!

Just did this and NO do not make your own Gasket, they are around 5.00 or less depending on where you get them. You MUST clean the surfaces to get a good seat it can be a PITA but needs to be done. Follow these links for parts.
