All I have been hearing is you spend to much time and Money on that big tub!
I have to admit I have been getting frustrated with vendors.
I have come to the conclusion that it only really matters
to me. Anyway back to the "TUB"

Here is the King demon bowls finished with self etching primer

I like to mod the carbs.

OK three things had to happen today to place on in the boat
tommarro.

1) receave mark up tailpipe from Randy at stellings.
GOT IT.

2)Receave the fittings for the fuel rail . I always start
the engines before they go in the boat.
These came in.

3)The blower belts I ran on the old heads are not long enough. The Blower shop sent them but UPS misdirected
them in CT..............Great! SETBACK.
Called Ron at the Blowershop had him send two new ones
SAT Delivery. THANKS RON!
I will refuse the others.

The reason I want to get one in is for the sake of the tailpipe
mark ups . Ya know how long it takes for custom tails
this time of year?

Waiting for the belt.
one goes in one goes to the DYno

Im going to get a beer!

So now I take a perfectly good boat and drill 4 5and a half inch holes in the back of it for the custom 5 inch tails.

I gotta get some trim rings with gaskets.

They are 19 inchs apart on drive center line and 11.5 inches
above drive centerline. This should put them right above the
water at idle.

Well its gonna rain up here for like a week.
Cant really do anything while its raining.

I decided to take a look at the #6,s.

They appear to be early sixes with the ugly skeg
after closer look I think they maybe converted
dry sumps.

They polish up real nice.
Gonna spray them the lexus blue.
then install the uppers which have been converted
to 1.33 to ones. I have a set of 17x32 4 blades to start
with.

Just ordered a 5 gallon pail of the Torco MTF
gear oil for them.

The Menace 05-10-2006 07:26 AM

Re: New to me Skater.

Wow, you polished the heck out of those bad boys. That is what I will be doing in a couple weeks.

Dennis just take some 600 wet sand then move to 1000
then get out the wool pad with some 3m rubbing compound.

Wala shinny sixes. Dont know how long it will last though.

I think if one breaks it will sink the ship.

So lets build something rowdy.

Lets start with 1/4 plate

Cut a wedge out of it.

maybe big clamps or otherwise weld tabs and use bolts.

There is one more support going towards the drive.

after im done with this I will paint it the Lexus Blue.

SUP MON?

Send me some real drives will ya.

Verdict still out on these.
Just noticed one of the Steering rams is seeping
fluid. So I ordered the rebuild kit from merc.

135 dollars for three o rings. God my ARS hurts :evilb:

Rik 05-12-2006 08:35 PM

Re: New to me Skater.

If that $135- for three 0-rings hurts, better leave it on the trailer. No telling what's next and it won't be that cheap.

How much does an oil change cost?

KNOT-RIGHT 05-13-2006 07:46 AM

Re: New to me Skater.

Actualy just ordered a 5 gallon pail of the TORCO MTF
for 97 bucks.

Do you know how many 30 packs I can buy for a 100?

What Mercury drives fail? I better be careful of what I say.
Because everybody uses them. That means there the best right? But I will ask
How many right angel gearsets can you get in one drive?

You and I had a conversation on converting this to the Arnesons. If these drives fail. You know who I will call.

Now go take Howy,s Aston out for a ride! :evilb:

Those do look like the old skegs, if they are and you want a quick 5+ mph, swap them or send them to herring. Its not much $$ for the speed. That and props are worth alot.
