Here is the way I am wiring the Gen circuit.

The engine will not spool unless the start/ Gen switch
is in Start mode. There is also a aux contact on one of the
big conatctors which provides a failsafe pulling out the Volatge
regulator.

All wires to starter are 2/0 awg Big stuff

I also used a third contactor two to tie the second engine
batteries in. (24volt parrell). If I need the extra kick in the
a$$.

Can use guys read this? it only took me freakin 5 uploads
I even neg it out.

Fast Algae 10-25-2007 05:07 PM

Still think you are using to many batteries!

Common ground buss.

Series optimas are in 24 volt.

Parrell Boat batteries in and mounted on starboard side to
offset some of the weight of the fresh water compressor
wash tank.

The first engine has passed the Test cell torture.

Here are some pictures taken from the operation.

What a setup.

Remember this engine has past for airworthyness.
This is reassuring to know incase the Cat goes Airborne:cool-smiley-027:

okay Gerry here are some numbers from our test run. These numbers represent a power setting required by the test program to determine what the engine is runing at 2400 feet with an inlet air temp of 80F and a barometer of 27.27. Yes it was 80F at 7:00 PM in Tucson AZ. last night. These engines are rated at 1400 SHP at 1125 FT.LB.TQ at sea level. So you will soon find out why our motto is "get out of the way".Attachment 305832

Do the fuel control units have a pressure return line on these units?

The fuel pumps on the boat have returns to tank.

The fuel control units provided by Mark-NYE also have
a return to keep the turbine fuel control from deadheading.

Here is a picture of the Mark-Nye unit.

This is also wired to the Safety laynard which kills
fuel in the event of ejection.

Here is the Block party for the fuel system.
The Mark-nye fuel shutoff I beleave will be placed at
where it says fuel solenoid valve.

I do not see any fuel returns in the Turbine fuel regulator.

There is however a fuel purge when shutting down the turbine. This is there because of the long periods that helicopters can sit...This will prevent the fuel from schalacing in the nozzles.

The bottom of my exhaust has a built in catch for this purge with a drain. It has nothing to do with the exhaust it is just
attached to it.

Good luck! Looks like your still having fun with your Skater!!

Fast Algae 10-28-2007 09:09 PM

Typically, the fuel at shutdown has to do with "where to put it". On shut down, as pressure in the nozzels decreases, a shuttle valve cuts the fuel off to the nozzels, and since the fuel control has positive displacement pumps, that fuel (while the fuel control is still spinning, i.e., pumping) has to go somewhere until the gas generator has stopped. It gets collected in a can and gets recycled either by burning on the next start, collected and dumped, or whatever.

The Menace 10-28-2007 09:25 PM

Currrently I have to drain the puke tank once every 4-5 starts. I have noticed a large variance in volumes.

It would be nice to be able to recycle. New technology does recycle the purged fuel.

here are some numbers from the test cell that you really wanted to see. Remember the RPM is capable of 6600 and we are at 2400 FT. These numbers are what the engine is rated at take off power which can be maintained for 15 min. intervals not just 8 seconds like dynoing a piston engine. This aint no rodeo boys.

This is what we are doing for the 12 volt charge.
I also piggy backed a KRC power steering pump.

It is a standard 100 amp one wire alternator.

Gerry, Is that the caliper disc brake system for the n2 shaft decelorator inside the blue case and does it get hot in side that bell housing area. Will it be easy to change the belt if it should fail ? Just asking luv your thread. Paul says hi too. Your pal, Jay "I'CE"

Excellent Question!

When I ordered the brake pads I went over the setup
with Wilwood (The Caliper manufactuer).
We did not consider the application a high usage/demand
such as road racing or track or even Automotive.
The N2 cannot be stopped for more then 30 or 40
seconds. It should have a cooled down period aswell
considering this duty cycle I think It will work.

Another drawback No charge no powersteering
when ya holding it stopped.

I have thought about putting a spare belt in there around
the Shaft. Changing this belt will most likley require
engine removal.
Thats why I will keep the backhoe around.

We decided to add a shore charge for each voltage
the 24 is a 30 amp and the 12 is a 20 amp.

It is wired to a female shore power plug in the cockpit.

This 46 Skater has a Storage compartment right behind
the rear seats. That is where these are located.
The cockpit is about 3 feet smaller then the
pleasure cockpit found on most.

This is where the freshwater 40 gallon tank is going
for the compressor rinse.

1CE 11-05-2007 02:10 AM

3-belts your out.

Gerry. Again luv the thread ! Do you have a pontoon boat/barge for the backhoe ? No power steering far from shore or close to the docks, I would:violent-smiley-045::violent-smiley-045:myself twice @ least in the belt area. Again thanks, jay "I'CE SCREAM":ernaehrung004: ps to post after #154

Gerrry, I think that some co. makes a remote electrically operated hydraulic power steering devise read about it some where mag.thread or ? if I see it again will advise u on it take care jay off to K.W.

Also if I may, does n2 actually get stopped or only slowed for shifting and how much time to slow and accelerate it during say a forward to reverse to forward thrust shift proceedure ? j

This is what I have and really do not want to use it is big
heavy and draws 65amps at 12 volt.

I have lost a powersteering motor and have been offshore
it is a pain in the Arz But You really only need when ya get close to the dock. Where I launch it is a straight shot.

Depending on the neumatic pressure I should be able to stop
it in instantly.

Remember it stops it all. props, drives ,crash boxes.

Here after looking at it pondering and consuming
3-4 Coronas my pee brain did this.
