I would bet it is to keep the shifters in gear while running hard. I had to do the same thing on my Marine Machine controls and that was the main reason I switch to Livorsi controls.

My skater has Latham controls and when you pull back on the throttles quickly the engs come out of gear sometimes. I am friends with Bob Latham and work around the corner from his shop. Spoken to him about it. They can install indents for you if you want. Just order them that way.

Had them pop out of gear with the 2.5's and the 300xs( the one time I forgot to bungie)

the guys at Latham will be adding extra shifter and throttle, so I'll ask them if they can modify mine while they have it down there to prevent that from happening
Has anyone out there with Latham controls, used their quick release pin that locks all of the throttles together for ease of use when underway?
