looking good!!!:party-smiley-004:

I appreciate the work your doing and I know all about plugs and molds as I been doing that work for years and just made vinyl-ester hatch , motor-well and console for my 32 . I cant follow your logic here to install add a fairing which adds height to deck and detracts from flowing lines of deck.
Your plug work looks great but why add something to look over rather to remove 2 inches of foam in seat to accomplish the same end result ? Larry |

I follow you and the 28 must have much less free-board than my 32 as I have 12 inches of foam on base and I'm 5'9 and sit eye level with top of fairing
|
its only 29" WITHOUT the seat mounted from the deck to the gunwale. Im about the same height as you kevlarkat and when I sit in my office chair its 30" to the top.
Figure the dash itself is a little higher but that still puts your head out in the wind with even a short cushion. |

I dont believe lowering yourself does accomplish the same thing, it would not deflect the wind up and over you like a fairing will. Second because that is what the guy wanted, he had a acrylic one and he said it worked great to deflect the wind and now with the refinish he wanted a fiberglass version. Others can lower their seat and report back and who knows maybe that might be answer but it does stand to question what lowering the foam would do to your comfort level when in the boat with your legs almost straight out.
I'm just under 6' tall and I can just barely see over the stock dash. If I sit on a throw able cushion, the height is cool but the wind is back. (I'm having trouble loading pics) I'm thinking to make the wind go away, its going to take a short wind "deflector" whatever shape works or a see thru wind shield if a 28 owner wants the wind and noise gone. Making it look correct on that shallow of a hull presents its own problems. Keep up the good work everybody. |
Great work, lowering the seats into the sponsons works.

Yes. Let's go...
|
|
I think that was a joke about the sponson
|
That's what I would have u do. How wide is it from the deck to the inside sponson? Looks wide enough for a seat bracket and lowering the lid 2" square the bracket should be trivial.
I just checked out a side by side video. I'm not all that familiar with the deck over model but it looks like the seats are set further back. If I remember correctly the hulls are identical, the back of our seats are against the front of the tanks. You know the boat, well be finishing up soon. Hope this helps, take care. |
mold is done, just need it to pop out in one piece and will be laying one up this weekend.
|
That is a ton of work !! What are you using for mold release , PVA or wax ? Polyester or Vinylester resin ?
|
Hi temp mold release wax, but also sprayed some fibrelease
|
Cool; data it?

If we all took a minute to email Peter at Skater and Aero Marine and advised them that there is considerable interest in a nice affordable winshield for the 28' it might help get things movin...Ok, I'll do it now. Skater Steve

people like to talk and when it comes time to buy they are no where to be found. I bet if you called peter and told him you had at least 5+ deposits it would be more motivating.

will we get to see a rendering before production so they'll know who is really interested in the finished product????
|
Don't know about the rest but I would want to see something before placing an order. Should not be hard to provide. I will call Peter the nd of his week to see what has been done.
|
thanks double...keep me posted
let me know if you hear of a great deal on a pair of 300xs's :cartman::party-smiley-004: |

that was the plan from the start, bolt and sealant. Something anyone can do in a couple of hours by themselves, no glass work
Are you going to sell them? How much and I would like to know how well it works. Keep us posted. Would look good on my boat in Red if you get enough wind deflection. |
its already been tested, maybe if Ryder sees this he can comment on its effectiveness he has been on the boat a number of times and also owns a 28
its a full inch higher then what the old plastic one was, I think it will still end up getting cut down a little bit |
Very nice and I know first hand what it takes to go from vision to plug to mold to finished part . Is it bolted to deck with maybe 1/16 adhesive backed black foam ?
|
Looks good, like to see the installed product.
|
wish we could have washed the boat beforehand but rigging is in progress, crap everywhere

Btw i think it should have been a little lower but thats what he wanted, easier to take away then add
|
i have to say the pics really dont do it justice, it looks 1000 times better in person. nice job rob!!!
|
Looks Real Nice Rob,,,Nice Job On The Windscreen Too
|
Looks great! Love the Blue paint!
|
Looking forward to seeing how it works! Nice job on the windscreen. Spoke to Carmen at Aero yesterday and she is waiting for a price and receiver concept for the windshield from their OEM who does the glass work. They are very busy right now but she said she should have some sort of drawing, price and deilvery timeframe by next Friday. Stay tuned.
Steve, heading to Lake Lanier this summer. Are you around in July? Would love to get the Skaters together to do some running. Maybe I can get Loeffler to come down! |
