Based on what I know first hand in a quote I got from Skater almost 4yrs ago and what I recently heard the other day a base white boat. No Paint, White Interior, 300xs Motor package with minimal gauges and simple rigging on a Skater Trailer list price is right at $200,000.00 dollars. Not sure how much of a deal they would make to sell one but with a paint job, custom interior and some cool goodies it would be well over 200k out the door. Makes some of the nice ones we have look like a deal at $150K if that is true. I am sure Erik can agree how fast the money goes once you start to dig in and refit an older boat!!!! LOL
That is also no Windshield. Add a wraparound molded one and there goes another 10 to 15k. The Doug Wright 32 pleasure that was built was almost 300k I had heard. The list price on a wrap around windshield and flat deck is far north of 50K. |

Here it is at the dock, lift needs a bit of adjustment which I'll take care of tomorrow. Looking forward to getting the Dewalds, the props I have accelerate like mad up to 95 but I am on the limiters very quickly, best I have run so far is 105. I would certainly give up some of the acceleration for lower revs at cruise and a more on the top end. The boat rides really nice, a whole different feeling than my old Talon. I will lower the motors a touch as well to try to pick up some more water pressure. Love the boat and Jim did an amazing job putting it together. Just want to thank zero patience for the motors and rigging, double rigged for the electronics, cowls and richy for the amazing paint. Great people that help out at every turn, I highly recommend them to anyone who wants top quality work and products and to be treated with fairness and respect, these are really good people, no B.S. I'll keep posing to this thread with speed numbers and info as I play with the motor height and props. |

She really turned out nice. I'm envious. I would love to hear more about your Talon as you post results of your changes in setup to the 28. I love my old 1989 Talon outboard, but, I'm ready to move to a true tunnel.

Has anyone ever used straps instead of a cradle to lift a Skater in it's slip for storage in the summer? I installed 12,000 pound 6" nylon straps (spaced at 12') and a 13k twin hoist in the 38' stall I just had added at the boathouse. The reason I used straps is because I can then hoist my 31 Scarab also using the same rigging when I alternate between the two boats. If I build a cradle for the Skater it would be a chore to switch out for the V hull. Has anyone else used straps as a lift instead of a cradle? We have all seen the racers hoisted by straps. I guess I should call Pete. Give me your opinions. |
My friend uses straps to lift his 52' Nortech cat, I built the lifting system for him.
