Congrats on the new toy.

Dale- sorry I missed you at Big cat, I saw you briefly talking to Doug on his Talon, went to find you later but you were gone.

Congrats on the new build. It sounds like an amazing boat and I'm curious to see how the wider tunnel helps with performance.

I would set up dual trim and Jack plate controls with lock out so you can throttle and let someone drive. Watch placement of the steering wheel sometimes it is mounted too low on the dash. I would recommend going to Douglas and sitting in the boat and having them custom set up foot rest steering and gauges.

Hydraulic Jackplates are the bomb. You also may want to consider thru hull pickups as when you get the motors up on the plates and running hard the water pressure becomes an issue even with the water ramps in the hull. Pop up dictators are much easier to read than the mercury racing vessel view. Also my 308 is very light in the bow. I would consider moving the batteries in front and tanks forward.
Twin 300XS are going to max out at 100-102. Trips or something "stronger" would make it more fun.
Make sure they put fender pins on the deck also.

Congrats on your build you are going to love the boat.
A lot of great suggestions from a man that owns one! One thing to remember though is that the flat-deck/wrap-windshield boats are heavier forward of the CG, and they have added aero downforce forward of the CG generated by the big windshield. Steve's boat may not be as light in the bow as a standard-deck 30 OB is. Just a thought - but I'd talk to Pete about what he thinks about the CG of this specific boat, as the wider tunnel may also add additional lift to compensate for the additional weight. I honestly don't have a clue where the running CG of this boat will end up vs a standard width/deck 30 OB. Where Pete ends up placing the dash and seats also affects the CG. There's nothing straightforward about a custom flat-deck build! Attached are a couple pics of how I "fit-up" and laid out the dash on my 30. I'd recommend you do the same Steve. Make plenty of trips to the factory during your build and have the boat custom tailored to you!

No not yet. Been very busy with work and we bought a new home for the toys. Currently being remodeled. It is going to be a really nice boat shop/man cave. I will definitely get it done over holiday break as I close my company from Christmas through New Years. Plan on doing motor swap then also. Will post pics of the new shop soon. I cant wait either. Hope to also get one run the xs set up with cool weather before the swap too.

I had to go up and register.........until I was told I was banned. Lol.......... It didn't matter to me though, I took my 28 on the run the next day. I don't think Bob knew it was me on the run the entire time in my 28 until the last stop. He was on the lookout for my 30 on Saturday, he didn't know about my 28!

Sounds good Ron, I look forward to seeing your #s. I'm still waiting for my 36s to get back from Dave, as well as a set of new 35s. I'm going to run them back to back and see which ones I like better.

NastyBug. Seems everyone is eager to experience your build. I hope that you get the hang of posting on OSO. Very cool build!. I dabbled into doing a 28 just like your boat. Just too much $$ for me to swallow a the time. I am very interested in your build - maybe self interest. My dream is a 28 wide/flat deck. Let me know if I can lend anything to your endeavor. David

Dale is absolutely right about all the above. As Ron suggested the ballast tank would be idea. I like the way you planned the dash set up.

Now no more suggestions or help until we get photos of the build!
