Spoke with Tony today. Took all day yesterday to break down after the show ended. Was driving back today with things in tow. We discussed the center of gravity situation and he assured me they have had that in mind the whole time as the build was never intended to run with anything but these new motors from Square one. That being said I do realize things can be overlooked by anybody sometimes. Im glad you guys have brought it up because it allowed me to put it out in their minds. Im sure it would not have been overlooked as they have a stake in getting a top speed out of this boat as good as people expect I would think.

The mold was made to facilitate less man hours to do a wide body flat deck for either inboard or outboard power. The time and cost to split widen and add to the sides just to add a flat deck is staggering. Since this is what people want it was much more cost effective for Pete to make a new mold which allows him to build with or without the insert and ready from mold to add the deck

So you have a 120mph boat with 1050hp. Not saying the 400hp option is bad for a nice package with warranty, no smoke and will run decent. But if all out speed is what you want you may need more HP!

See the attached pictures of the speed calculator from BAM's website. Using information based on a known "best" top speed for a 30' Skater with twin 300XSs (my buddy's ran 104 w/ Merc 3 blade 32 cleavers), you add 400 pounds and 200hp into the formula and it spits out 115mph. This is a "best case" top speed # for Steve's new flat deck 30, as it is giving him the benefit of any doubt that the widened tunnel will gain back the speed loss incurred from the additional weight of the flat deck and the drag/downforce of the full windshield. I would bet money that Steve's rig will run low teens once it's all dialed in. The only cat I can think of that will run 120+ with a pair of these on the back will be the DW32. I think Randy is shooting high for his new 34' running 120 with a pair of these 400Rs, but who knows - it might do it!

My as well do something with it!!!! Only if I get to do all the set up and testing down here. Now you have a reason to bring the boat down! I think it would be fun to make it faster than the twin 400hp verados and show Pete triples are not a bad option. You have to keep in mind also the guy out in Havasu that has a wide body flat deck 32 with triple 300x's runs around 116 or so. Spoke to him at length. That boat is not that much different that what is being built currently. There are triple 32 A Skaters with Simon modified 300x's that have run 120mph on a good day. I would say that motor may have 350hp each.
So you have a 120mph boat with 1050hp. Not saying the 400hp option is bad for a nice package with warranty, no smoke and will run decent. But if all out speed is what you want you may need more HP!

The trick is to keep it on plane when you lose one! I've come home at 45mph on one several times in both my 30 and my 28. And believe it or not, I got my 28 to roll over on one recently with the big 3.2XSs hanging off the back and a set of 36 DeWalds down below (I think the big 4' ferry swell rolled me over to be honest). I agree with your trick of pull starting though, I pulled my buddy up in his 22 Talon with twins behind one of my 28s before. Once he was up, his passenger threw the rope and he was on his way!
