I was at Pensecola getting a card when the warning horn went off. No water pressure on Port engine. Got her up with two and immediately shut her off and trimmed her up. I had been running all day long great watching the helicopter chase the bigger MTIs and Skaters. Then half way back to Destin here he comes to film me. He almost got the your number one from me...... Turned out to be a blown water pump gasket. Took 15 minutes to replace and ran like a demon again. He got my crew with my girls running the next day so I was happy.

See the attached pictures of the speed calculator from BAM's website. Using information based on a known "best" top speed for a 30' Skater with twin 300XSs (my buddy's ran 104 w/ Merc 3 blade 32 cleavers), you add 400 pounds and 200hp into the formula and it spits out 115mph. This is a "best case" top speed # for Steve's new flat deck 30, as it is giving him the benefit of any doubt that the widened tunnel will gain back the speed loss incurred from the additional weight of the flat deck and the drag/downforce of the full windshield. I would bet money that Steve's rig will run low teens once it's all dialed in. The only cat I can think of that will run 120+ with a pair of these on the back will be the DW32. I think Randy is shooting high for his new 34' running 120 with a pair of these 400Rs, but who knows - it might do it!

It should be interesting to see. The new 400's really make an outboard boat attractive. Clearly Pete is really good with outboards and will make this work at full potential. My fear is the size of the 400 gearcase it will be a significant drag increase over the current gearcase.

The best way to get around the possibility of the large gearcases slowing the boat is to get them as high as they can go and still have the props hooked up! Pete can install low water pickups in the bottoms of the sponsons and plumb them into the gearcases. This will allow the gearcases to be run higher and not affect speed as much with the larger diameter cases.

I see Mr Beckley following along here LOL. he pointed out some differences to me on his skater race boat compared to the DW when my son and i picked up the 308 from his shop. I bet he is every bit as interested in the outcome as we are LOL. would be great to see a skater outrun the DW's and get solidly back on top in the outboard cat race circuit!!!!

Hey Guys, Starting to look like something. Here is a pic with the cockpit cut in. If you look close it looks like the dash resembles the 338 as you can see the humps where the two tacks go along with the speedo in center. didn't know that was coming but it is welcomed as before the tacks seemed to sit down below the steering wheel and harder to see. Also the center screen would have the ability to house a larger merc view if they come that way. Not sure. Steve.

Looks good. The Mercury vessel view comes in a 4.5" or 7" display. If you are going to use a Larger Garmin display in the middle I would get the 4.5" and not waste the money on the 7" since you have analog tach and speedo's too.
