Steve,

Don't be surprised if Mercury does a photo-shoot of your 318 for next year's 450R brochures.

Also tell Mercury to reflash your motor's ECU with 450HP...now that would be soooo coolie !

Boat is coming along very nicely. I agree with the folks....that blue is mesmerizing

You guys are dreaming of a 450hp 6cyl. Wishful thinking. They need to get the 400r to perform first!

C3Six,

Are you close to Rumson ?

what inlet do you use to get out into the ocean?

Yes.
The Atlantic Highlands ramp gets you to the ocean reasonably quick.

I think because the filled in the notch on the transom. Making the running surface longer.
Hence 318.
Right Nasty?

Hey Dub, When we talked about it the feeling was along the lines that it was the 308 hull originally and was widened 10 inches over the original so combining the numbers came up with 318. It does have a foot longer running surface also and reinforced transom. They kicked a lot of numbers around and this was the one that sounded best. I agreed. I was thinking about 308SS before they decided to make it a new model. Im used to the name and like it. In my opinion I think it has enough differences from the classic and the regular flat deck 30s to agree with their decision. I know some will disagree and I know it is still based out of the 30 foot original mold But Pete did make a whole new mold for it including the new cockpit area and Im sure spent a lot of time and money to do so. Ultimately it was their decision
