New 28 skater project

Hey Guys
I can finally join the 28 club ,I recently picked up a very clean 2000 28 ,that was originally owned bye The Morgan family from big thunder marine
I am not a very big fan of solid white so I just dropped off to Chris mills at boat customs on Friday
To do his magic ,new paint ,rub rail ,deleted rub rail on transom, deleted bow rail ,I will be replacing all bezels
An doing some interior work when I get it home ,the 300x's from the old 24 will be going on her ,
Keep ya updated as Chris progresses ,

Double Rigged 01-18-2016 01:49 PM

Congratulations Tom! Saw your old boat at TNT in Miami last week.
Spoke to the guys. They seemed happy with the 300xs's on it. Post some pics of the boat for before and after! I am sure Chris will do a great job.
If you need anything give me a call.

Flightplan 01-18-2016 01:52 PM

Seems like you would have put some good motors on that thing...:party-smiley-048:

CONGRATS MR TOM!

Are you doing any mods to the hull regarding water ramps or hull pick ups?
Saw the ramps the on the 24. Looked pretty deep ccmpared to what Pete did on the 28 I had.

davidmercury 01-18-2016 07:12 PM

Yes I made them just abit deeper= higher engines = more water pressure!
they worked flawlesly

How did you like removing that rub rail? Can you freaking believe that crap? I swear Pete has some elves at the factory that come in at night and thru bolt that Sh!t. Lol!

Looks very nice Tom. Always Good to see another 28 on the forum. Broke my heart when Ron sold his 28, but hey, at least we have another bad azz 308 on the board.

Hope to see a lot of fresh 28's come spring.

Cant wait to hear your opinions on a 28 versus a 24 in handling and speeds, and overall usability. I bet you really like the 28.

It amazes me that just when you think you have seen most 28's around another one pops up out of no where. Nice find Tom.
Chris it hurt me too selling my boat. That boat was very special to me and it will never be replaced in my heart as well.

mikesufka 01-19-2016 02:16 PM

Tom -

Is this the boat you sent me pictures of this past fall?

MDS

tom kennedy 01-19-2016 03:36 PM

Yes the threw bolts suck ,my wife helped me pull it off she is a trooper and a skater junky!!! But she won't admit it lol ,I just hope it's as fun to drive as the 24

mikesufka 01-19-2016 07:42 PM

Would be great to start with an all white boat. Fun project for sure !!!!!!!!!!

tom kennedy 01-21-2016 08:56 AM

The nice thing is not a lot of prep work involved in an all white boat going in for paint!

Orthobam 01-24-2016 03:16 PM

Tom, Your boat is fantastic:Score-101010:! I know that you are going to love the 28 - just drive it like you did your 24 and everything will be fine.
