I know I am jumping in way past the threads worth, but.... I own a Scarab, and if was on looks alone, put a Sonic and a Thunder next to each other at a dock... see everyone look at the Sonic longer. "Enough said"!!!
Speed aside.. Sonic hands down

By the way Jassman, I got the Thunder brochures and video (I know, sacrilidge) Looks pretty nice. I know what list prices are about, what are real prices for a 37 with 500's and reasonable options? I don't want to bother Pat or Steve as I won't be buying for a couple years. When you decided on power for your boat did you consider aftermarket such as Cobra and B max? I'm just doing some homework as to what I want.

Talking

Boy, you created quite the conversation. I was in your shoes 3 years ago and bought the Sonic 386 STS. It really does have the creature comforts but lacks the speed and does handle the rough water. The boat did 63-65 w/twin 502s. The speed was'nt enough, last year I built reliable twin 750hps and put speedmaster #3s on it. It now screams across the water in comfort at 83-85. Now that the minor bugs are worked out it truly is the ultimate luxury performance boat. I have over 250 invested in it and it's available for high 100s if you decide on a 386. Give me a call if your ever interested.
Good luck, Bill

Cool

Bill W, We recently purchased the Active Thunder. I have attached the post I put on the AT board below. The Sonic 386 is one nice boat. The cabin is awsome. But the efficiency of the hull (and some other things) won the deal for AT.

Well guy's we finally made a decision (as Tbikini already posted, she just could not wait ) We are buying an Active Tunder 37 AVH . We are going with 500 HP EFI's and XZ Drives. We are getting the Millenium cabin, it will be center access. We're getting all the creature comforts; A/C, genset, microwave, fridge, hot water, etc, etc, etc. The name will be Thunder Enlightening and the colors will be red, black, blue and yellow. Graphics will be a little lower key than Thunder Dan or Jassman and will be based loosely on Formulas Firestorm graphics.
We are very excited and look forward to working with Steve and Pat. Of all the people we have ever dealt with in purchasing a boat, they are the best.

I wanted to put my decision on my original post. It had stopped at 599 and I thought it would be cool to move it to 600.

Life is good
