The 38 and the 42 are great riding boats. With the same power your having to choose between that is easy, the 38 has a little more room in the cockpit for moving around and they both have the same amenities down below. As far as speed, it depends on how fast you want to go. Mid to high 60s or high 60s or maybe just seeing 70ish. Then it depends on what type of paint, condition of Gel, trailer or no trailer, condition of the running gear, interior, etc, etc....

I have a 94 42 with tripp 500s rebuilt last year. New paint an iterior a couple years ago. Fresh water boat in very good condition on a manning trailer for $85,000. Replacing the guages right now, other than that all ready to go.
