Sounds like fun. Wish we could have some races on Texoma. I remember they had some on Lake Quichita (Arkansas) last year. That lake is about the same size, but without the big main spans you see on Texoma.

VVector - these files are too big to send and they keep getting rejected. Any ideas?

Some pics from our Labor Day meet and greet.

DareDevil 10-22-2008 09:45 AM

All you would have to do , is find a sponsor that sponsors a race with the city or county there.

To atract spectators, for vendors (like hotels and other econimy pushing parties.

To set up a race with lets say 20-30 boats its gonna be around 250 -350 K .

And as soon as you have that or close to that you need to get in touch with our president at SBI/APBA ( Jhon Carbonell )

And the race is on ! :ernaehrung004:

And u will be officialy RACEMANAGER !!! Sounds cool . LOL:drink:

TexomaPowerboater 10-22-2008 09:55 AM

Only 250-350K:eek:

Couple of camera vids of the 28 Apache from the 4th of July weekend.

Other boats include a 36 gladiator, 39 Top gun - txspeedfreek, and gunslinger.....36 nortech??????

DareDevil 10-22-2008 10:02 AM

Thats what alot of people ,even in the business ,dont understand.

SBI /APBA is a company not a club !

They have liabilitys and other expenses to cover, everybody whants to get payed, and it takes alot of efford and work to plan a race.

KW, costs about 500-1mil. is what i heard and for an event over 1 week and this size ,not unrealistic.

GET TO WORK, and it will happen. LOL

TexomaPowerboater 10-23-2008 12:47 PM

Sweet poster.

I gotta ask..........for that kind of money, why not start up my own racing club/company and run my own races. All the races would be on Texoma and would have two clases, under 24ft and under 30ft, that way the rough water can still make things interesting. Or maybe even start up a new shootout; the area by the denison dam would put LOTO to shame. 3 miles of road to park and watch and plenty of room on the other side for boats to raft up. The biggest boat ramp on the lake is right nearby and has 3 two lane ramps and a parking lot for the big rigs. You could even tailgate and watch the races from the ramp its so close.

TexomaPowerboater 10-26-2008 12:28 PM

LOL, Dooo.... It

It really is a good spot for it. There is camping close within walking distance at two different spots. I bet I could sell the idea to the local Cartwright, OK firefighters. Firetruck is older than I am....... First step would be to get it past the Coast Guard. Right now they are not even leting poker runs go on. Suppose it never hurts to ask.

It is the closest most logicall place for a new venue for a race. There is no where that guys that live where I live can leaave late friday evening, race saturday or sunday and make it back to work by monday except Chorpus ChristI (to far south for everyone else) or where you are ( close enough for other pwople to get to.

Get after it big guy. I'll make the trip up. :ernaehrung004:

DareDevil 10-27-2008 11:28 AM

So i took the day off Friday to go to the lake. My plan was to start getting ready to redo the cabin. 5 hours later, I had two pickup loads of crap to haul off.

I am going to add 2 full bulkeads and build facing seating areas. The two large areas towards the front will have a rear facing seat with a new addition underneath for the wife.

I dont think the structural stuff will be that bad, I cant wait to get it done.

Velocity Vector 11-01-2008 01:46 PM

That's going to be sweet Matt, looks like she's hell for stout. Nice project! Don't you wish 5 hrs later your done.

TexomaPowerboater 11-02-2008 11:35 AM

Are you doing that work at Texoma? I'd like to come by and help out sometime if you are. Maybe try and learn some tips along the way. Wish I knew more about how to do some of that stuff myself.

I wont be doing any glass work. I will get everything out, cut new bulkheads etc. I want to do as much as I can before I take it to Dallas for glass. I will let you know next time I will be up.

TexomaPowerboater 11-03-2008 08:26 AM

Where are you taking it to for the glass work? Who does Leon use for fiberglass and bilge repaints?

TxHawk 11-03-2008 09:43 AM

I have been using Joe Amos. He did all the stuctural work and transom last winter. He does a lot for Legend too.

I asked the guy how rusted up everything as since it had been sitting in the shop for 2 years nad he won't return my calls or emails any more.

What kind of arnesons were on that thing anyway?

Donman 11-04-2008 07:04 AM

Hey Andy ---- get off your ass and let`s bring some racing or a shootout to Texoma. I`ll give you moral support. :drink:

I really do wish we could have "some type of high-performance boat event" on the lake.

I`ll help you where I can. Being a full-time resident might help ---- couldn`t hurt . . .

Definitely couldn't hurt. It really is a great lake. I don't see why there isn't more of a push for something like this from the local community. LOTO Shootout brings in tens of thousands of visitors who love to spend the cash.
