How about 502's?? I have a line on new marine 502's..... cheaper than you will find anywhere. |
Actually 502's are what I'd prefer. Tell me more about your 502's and throw me some numbers. Hard to beat the 496's warranty, smartcraft monitoring, and lower maintenance. I also like being able to just plug in a diagnostic. In a perfect world I'd buy some 502MAG's 415hp, but they don't make them anymore. I'm not out to win any races, but I want to do it once and do it right. I just want a reliable package that will last 500+ hours.
I did price out a chief 502 415hp built motor.....12.5K carbed, 16K efi, which I thought was pretty reasonable. I think the old engines may be worth a little. The block is still good - I don't think its ever been bored out, Stainless marine exhaust and 850 holleys are still good. Heads and intake are junk. |

If you guys from the other "BS Thread" are reading this. This is what pictures of our boats in the water look like. |

Anybody going up this weekend? I'll have the sea ray out weather permitting. Getting the Apache out of the shop - had the drives repainted and getting some quotes to restore the top deck. Tax season's over so I'll be knocking down beers like fat chicks at a frat party:drink::evilb:
|
I will be up on Saturday morning. Need to get the boat cleaned up and going to go ahead and winterize. It doesnt look like my schedule is going to allow any more weekends. I think I have a carrier bearing out in stbd extension box anyway. Call me if you are around.

3 days sounds like a beating. Good luck to you guys.
Sat on my azz all weekend staring out at the lake, never did hit the water. Very relaxing. They have opened up some river outfitters with canoes and kayaks shuttles down the red river. I may try it out over the winter. Always good fishing down there. |

Everybody should come down to KW, to help on the boat and hang out for the PARTEYS.:ernaehrung004: I will try to bring Andy back to shore safe, otherwise i would have to get his APACHE to FL.:drink: |

Yes you do. I was hoping you would but didn't want to sour your day on the lake. I probobly will not be back up until Thanksgiving.
I got a short video of the apache and a cig gladiator, txspeedfreaks 39 Cig, and Gunslinger all running together on the 4th of July weekend, but I can't figure out how to post it. Was hoping somebody could help me out.........Vyperfitness? VVector?? |

I know you guy's have different conditions that only allow you to run as fast as possible but how fast do you guy's go in your class? Is there like a weight to HP ratio rule?
Which may not sound much to you, but running 75-82 for a time of 45-60 min and watching that your not cutting of any body else and try not to trip or stuff the boat ,or hook it in the turns is realy not that easy . Also in 3-6 foot seas its pretty damn fast with a single engine 32 footer. Plus i am still trying to dial the boat in ,not perfect yet. When its done it should be able to runn more like 95-100 MPH. Next season,if everything works ,we may run it in P-3 which is 92 MPH max . Here some info : P-5 72 MPH (SBI /APBA) / 75 MPH in OPA P-4 82 / 85 P-3 92 / 95 P-2 102 / 105 P-1 112 / 115 Now for P class boats there is no other rule (SAFETY INSP.) All other faster classes ( spec.classes) have rules like not more then so and so HP or the boat can only weigh so much and stuff like that. Therefor they run as fast as they can, and the better boat will eventl. win. In P-Class (everybody thinks of non pro class ) ,(which is a real big BS), you have to give your best at all times and even slower boats have chance of winning. Who ever is the first at the start, will tryto run his max speed without breaking out and push it to the limits to try to stay upfront. Which not always is the case. You got to understand that at all times you have 10-20 boats on the racecorse some slower some alot faster ,4 turns and everyone of them whants to hit the pin at the closest they can get it. Also you have all the wash and spray from the otherboats on top of the waves, its really not slow under those conditions to go 75-82 plus you have to watch your not going to fast. ALL IN ALL ,its just pure fun and adrinalin. thats wy i do it and i think Andy aswell. C-YA !!!! all and we try are best. Daredevil Racing , Scott :evilb: |
