To build one up to make 500 crank shaft horse power would involve a hotter cam with the associated valve-train components, the heads ported for increased flow & milled to increase the compression a bit, and a bigger carb to feed it at higher rpm. And of course, good flowing exhaust as to not choke it once in the boat... :D If my memory serves me correctly, Gary told me that he saw a 10mph increase in top speed with the engine modifications... :evilb: cuposterchild, I told you we love to rap about this chitttt... :drink: |

My package weighed in at like 4650lb and I think your steel trailer would weigh a bit more than 900lbs. |

Pat
I was just looking through the paper work been passed on with the boat. You might be right....my hull dry weight is 3260 lbs and when Cordell had it weighed on and off the trailer the total package was 4400, with the boat off (3500lbs) the trailer weighed in at 1100lbs. |

Didn't your rebuilt 454mag make like 575HP on the dyno? :D JC did a bit more to yours though. Like Dart raised runner heads ported and polished, and a solid lifter cam... :evilb: |
Re: Picked up 24 over the weekend
Actually, we ended up going w/ a full hydraulic roller set up.
Dart Iron Eagle Heads, port/polished intake etc... Only thing left from the 454 was block(461) crank & conn. rods, and these were not left untuched, all balanced. Dyno was 560hp/550tq. Too bad mine was not a lt layup. :( It would have been a nice powerplant in a y2k. |

Great power for your old 24' Pantera too. Did you ever weigh that package? My 1989 24' Pantera Sport only weighed about 100lbs more than my 24' Super. Your SE model was probably a couple more again though... |
Re: Picked up 24 over the weekend
never weighed it.
I'm guessing its inline w/ the pantera site: 4000lbs. |
