Pat,
Haven't talked to Dustin yet... probably because whipple isn't my first choice to stuff a motor. The idea I'm following ( for the moment) is to make 500hp with a N/A motor, then if needed/wanted/just plain have to make Superbabi (Gary) jealous, I can bolt on some prochargers or a blower set up and make 700ish hp. Damn with that much power I could give the turbine boat a run for its money!!!

I like the back up plan of the 377's because they offer the kind of performance I could live with if my first choice just gets too expensive... as for the 6.2 internals vs. 377's I couldn't tell ya.

Using Tom's (faster's) numbers for the hull eff. we figured out that 1500hp would push this hull 130+... which is what 2 force fed small blocks would be making if I get my way and the wife somehow doesn't see the bill.
Has anybody even been past 107mph in the step hull? My biggest concern at the moment is take off and the need for FAA clearance!!!!

The regular 6.2 is rated 320HP at the prop, and likely a cam change and some blue paint from being the same engine.

I have a sneaky suspicion that Merc and Volvo Penta will soon be using the new GM 6.0L base engine. Maybe even for the 2007 model year; I guess the Miami boat show will tell.
That 6.0L is one hell of a nice engine. Check it out on the GM web page. 350+Hp at the prop just like the 377scorp and they have aluminum heads and exhaust stock.
The only down side I see is that it may be a couple of years before there are marine hop-ups for them. Maybe not though; they have been in cars and trucks for a few years now.
How fast with a staggered pair of those 350HPs? 85-90, more?
