I don't have the computer program in front of me at the moment but mid 80's sounds about right.
And Gary that would be cheating to use BB's ;) |

450HP out of a 383cube or you need a high $$ custom block. I would guess twin 450s would have the boat running along side of Faster. |
Re: Rob, Huntington Beach !!
Hey Rob Where Abouts Are You In HB .I Have A Very Close Friend Who Lives In Huntington Beach He Owns Beach Medical Uniforms Across From The Hospital. He Used To Sell Superboats Out There In The Mid 80s Early 90s .He Got Nigel Hook Started In Racing With a 21 Super. His Name Is Harley Stop In And See Him .Cool Dude
|
Re: Rob, Huntington Beach !!
Just up the street from the hospital... I'll pay him a visit next time I drive by.
If the new vettes are putting out 500+ with all the emission junk and detuning for 87 octane, then I can see 500hp as doable.... hell maybe 2 Z06 LS2's will be the ticket. I think they are aluminum blocks too. ;) |
Re: Rob, Huntington Beach !!
YA and then they will be super reliable.
|
Re: Rob, Huntington Beach !!
Anyone seen the new Lingenfelter Supercharged LS2 motor... isn't it something rediculus like 850hp?
|

So I would think it would not be too big a deal to marinize either the 6.0 or 7.0 Vette engine. I think they may even be available from GM Performance parts??? |
Re: Rob, Huntington Beach !!
Looking into it... ;)
|
Re: Rob, Huntington Beach !!
Hmmmmm :)
|
Re: Rob, Huntington Beach !!
They would run good, be reliable and have the vette growl to them. How can ya go wrong?

Rob, I suggest you talk to Leon Derebery
(http://dereberyperformancemarine.com/raptor.htm) about your idea. he has one of if not the fastest pleasure boat on water. I talked to him before buying my engine. Great prices and reputation. The only reason I had Adrenaline build mine is because of a personal connection. I got a few extra high dollar items from Rusty at Adrenaline. ( Jesel rocker system, custom oil pan, valvecovers and air filter). Oh and a few more cubes 572 to 598ci. |
Re: Rob, Huntington Beach !!
We build a kick a$$ motor up here too. www.perfmar.com
PM Back 4 More or Shane. We built the motors for Back 4 More and have known Shane for a long time. WE also built King Sting. |

So how fast can you really push a 30Y2K???? :)

Re: Rob, Huntington Beach !!
Jsut got to thinking, what about some GM Vortechs. SOme are cranking some pretty fair HP and then a whipple. :eureka:

Re: Rob, Huntington Beach !!
Rob, I know we have been down this road before. Why not a pair of 525's ????
|
Re: Rob, Huntington Beach !!
OK here is the main reason... It would look like a fountain without the snout sitting that low in the wter! LOL! :D

Coen assured me that the staggered SB set up would still leave enough room for the rear passangers. With BB the rear seat would be gone which is not gonna fly with the wife or me for that matter. We are already talking about 500hp small blocks so why would I want to spend more money on a motor that weighs more, uses more gas, and puts out the same power? Next week we are gonna toss around all the ideas and see what sticks. Like Pat linked, a LS7 would be sick if we can marinize one without spending the GDP of a small country. As for the whipple vs. other SC's a big factor is going to be how much room we have under the hatch. With the intercooler, manifold, and whipple they get kinda tall and huge ass scoops or a tall deck aren't gonna look the best so I'm kinda playing the wait and see game. Seriously though, 500hp x 2 is a hell of a lot in a liteweight 30' hull. Whipples or anything else might be over kill... Coen said it best, "How fast you wanna go?" Me personally 100 is good for now ;)

Re: Rob, Huntington Beach !!
Using Decktop Dyno I built some 500 hp sbc's. They are 383's with a bore of- 4.030 and stroke-3.750. The heads are-wedge fully ported large valves the intake valve is 2.035in. and exaust is -1.650. Compression Ratio-9.50 to 1. Combustion space-92.22cc. Induction flow-1000cfm. Manifold type-forced induction-blower-weiand177-exaust system-forced industion exaust-cam. specs.-lobe center-108.0-valve overlap-62.0-int duration-278.0-exh duration-278.0-cam. type-high perf. street-lifter-hyd.-int lift @ valve-.468in.-Exh lift @ valve-.445in.
500H.P at 5500 RPM's 522 at 600 RPMS. 500 ft lbs of tourque@ 4500 Rps's. The ultimate Y2K motor's. :D :evilb: |

The 400HP 6.0L Vette engine cost less than half of the 7.0 and should not be a big problem to marinize. Remember GM already sells a 6.0L to the marine industry so exhaust, closed cooling, and other accessories have already been designed. Either way, using an aluminum engine block and heads will really save on weight... |

Re: Rob, Huntington Beach !!
Thanks TC, Its turned into one hell of a build and I can't wait to see the finished product!!!
The 6.0 aluminum block would be a great choice for the weight savings, hope we can make up a little engine to take advantage of it!!! |
