Gary, I'm planning on being out there in sept. for testing... Unless Coen tells me different but thats my guess as to when it would be hitting the water.

Rob,
I went to NY in Nov. 2004. Ordered in Dec. My boat was in the water Sept 2005. I know it's hard seeing all these Cali boats pumping out in eight weeks. I get compliments from boat builders out here on the lines of the Y2K. You'll be happy soon.

P Class!! I'm so tempted to race too but I can't imagine the wear of running my engine wide open for an hour. Resale goes out the window also. We just need a sponsor!!!!! JC! West Coast Superboat Racing Team?

Motor is due to ship next week after the dyno... still on schedule as of now.

I'm not sure of resale of a race boat vs. non with this hull... a smart buyer is going to realize that no one uses a boat like the Y2K as a cruiser on there backyard lake... I would think that a well maintained motor would last a whole season (4-5 races is all there is out here I think???) and I don't think WOT would be needed much in P-5 ( speed limit 75mph) or even in P-4 (80 or 85 I forget?) Either way sponsors would be nice!!!

I haven't made any calls yet to POPRA but it almost seems affordable to run the local races. Anyone have any thoughts on running P classes and what a race budget would be?

Rob, great idea , the racing thing !!!!! I would say 35-50 K per year to race her. depending on the amount of races.

They basically use the prop pitch and gear ratio and horsepower as a guide what class you would race in. Based on the theoretical speed. If you surepass the speed limit you are DQ'd. Therefore if you propped the boat to limit top speed for P-5, you would be running near max rpm.
Let's get together when you get some seat time on the Y2k. I talked with Brian (Laveycraft AMF) this spring (great guy), he's was eagar to see Superboat out here.

I wonder if P5 or P4 would be better suited? I was talking to Kevin Cooper at the LA boat show about racing and his SVL that was there on display... funny that was when I started tossing around the racing idea, he made it sound like they were really trying to get more people invovled and trying to make it more economical to do the entry level stuff.

So what your saying then Tom is that even if you pick a slower class they will move you up if you break out, It was never clear to me, i thought you could pick a class then it was up to you to stay under the speed?
