Yup,
Driver boats scare me when the water gets snotty......Probably cause I suck at driving them!

Seen to many high speed fish hooks at the Poker runs.

Same power as the Merc 525EFI, 2/3 the weight, and 10K less $$...

raylar LSM550 is 500lbs.
merc525 is 1201? per merc page.
Ilmor is around 800lbs so the 525 has to be about 200 heavier.
Is the 1201lbs w/ drive(approx 150lbs?)

An Iron Head 502 BBC marine engine does weigh about 1000lbs with exhaust all the accessories. The Merc 525EFI weighs a little less do to the aluminum heads and CMI headers.
My guess is that a Bravo drive, transom assembly and gimble housing add up to about 250lbs.
Yea, that all aluminum V-10 is like 150-200lbs lighter than a 502.
This new all aluminum small bock is really light!

Good questions...

And do we know what engine this is based on?
The new GM 6.0 or 7.0 small blocks found in Vettes with a stroker crank maybe?
Or a Dart, or World Products aluminum race block?
I gotto know...

I talked with Merc's Fusion boys in Miami (consumer motor referb division) and they are about to release a 383 motor that is very close to the same numbers as the Raylar motor. I do not remember the exact details, it was so new there was no price set at the time of the show.

They are taking the base 350 (I am assuming that is 5.0) boring and stroking it, doing a hand build up to what they referred to as a small block beast.

Was an interesting discussion and I got a little green man out of the deal.
