FX10 04-05-2008 09:24 PM

Famous? not. Spoken about , ok. But not famous.

noli 04-06-2008 10:03 AM

Yeah you're right Rick. Not Famous, just talked about :grinser010:

Do you think all the stringers will be in this week?

Pics would be nice :D

z.zuperboat 04-06-2008 05:54 PM

Noli ever watch the show Deadliest Catch ? Thats got some big water !!

noli 04-06-2008 06:33 PM

Yes I have. That is scary water. If I ever come across those kinds of water I will make a B-line for home and become a land-lubber.

Those huge fishing boats are thrown around like twigs.

tripps 04-06-2008 07:38 PM

Those waves are nothing for a boat called SUPERBOAT:D:D:D tripps

I won't touch that…:hitfan:

Hey Rick and Noli you are both infamous, not quite famous, yet that is…:D

IMHO the Superboat web page is better than most boat manufacturers; it just needs to be kept up to date. There seams to be lots of bashing over on Scream and Fly. What's up with that?

Rick, I guess you and I agree on something; I voted for John McCain in the 1992 and 2008 primaries.

Noli, Best of luck to you in your adventure...:cool-smiley-027:

TeamSaris 04-07-2008 04:25 PM

noli, It sounds your trip is going to be a blast!! You couldnt have choose a better boat. Have fun with it man and keep us posted.:cool-smiley-011:

Noli,
The stringers are all in. Spent the last few days doing the balsa core on the bottom of the hull. I don't know if the balsa will be done tomorrow, but it will be close.
I borrowed my brothers camera to take some pictures today. First I took a few shots of my Supervader, then the batteries were dead. I have new batts for tomorrow. So I'll have some progress pictures up.

Superbabi 04-17-2008 06:43 AM

noli, I understand you were at the Superboat Factory, any photos you want to share ?? :D

FX10 04-18-2008 05:03 AM

Awesome !!! first photos of 34' being built !!!! Please keep the the photos coming !!!!:D

z.zuperboat 04-18-2008 07:26 AM

The progress on this is amazing. It has to take 1/2 a day just to move it in the shop. Being an outboard I would have thought that it would get some kind of transom knees .

Good Point, hopefully it will.
I know that the lack of kneens has been a knock on Superboats of the past.
Those new outboards are heavy.
Great shots as always Rick...:cool-smiley-011:

The knees go in after the deck and well are on. The knees get glassed to the bottom of the well.

The desire; for such a task is understood and appreciated. Moreover; Safety over arrogant/ignorance anytime. I recommend planning and technical preparation surpass all ego.

Didn't read anything @ :http://forums.screamandfly.com/forum...d.php?t=155486
to suggest anything other than "SAFETY/SUCCESS FIRST". Please advise.

Best regards

JR,

I agree with what you're saying. If you removed the words like "stupid" and "extremely stupid" etc., you will come to a realization that the underlying message is this:

* This is an extraordinary trip
* This trip is probably NOT inteded to be made with a 34 go-fast boat
* But if you continue to take on this challenge, take time to plan for safety
* And once you think you've got everything covered, rethink all of the "safety exits" again

To be honest, it took multiple reads of that forum before I personally came to this understanding.

Oh and there is a silver lining in that OSO forum, one that negated the negativity (for me) in that the individual who frequently sponsors the Whitbread race indicated that the trip that I'm planning is possible with the proper planning(as Rick indicated also).

JR, thanks for clarifying this.

Best,
noli

Noli,
You right; I shouldn't have used such harsh adjectives. My apologies.:)

Actually; we considered the blue ribbon run about a 1 1/2 years back (Italy -> New york),
but dumped it because, as indicated, the rules changed after Branson made his run.
Also thought recently of hitting Bermuda; but it's out of reach; and to be honest scares
the crap out of me even w/proper equipment.
:boat:

I posted calculated eta, mpg, mph, distance etc. stating you can hit Ireland
with approx 3 full tanks of gas.

Regards to "Cap't Dark Matter".

JR, no need for apologies. It's all good.

noli 04-23-2008 06:51 PM

Rick, what's the latest with the 34? :D

FX10 04-23-2008 08:20 PM

We are waiting on 3 fuel tanks to get here. Then the fun begins.

wot 04-23-2008 09:06 PM

The trip's work well. Suggest rig r/ready w/trips steering and all.
Remove the gear case on the center and stow it w/an extra.
Three spare starters as well and your good to go.

More Photos !!!!!:D

noli 04-27-2008 07:39 PM

The 34 will have a total of about 400 gallons of fuel.
(2) - 87 gals.
(1) - 225 gals.

The two 87 gallon tanks are in the shop awaiting Rick's magic.

Those fill ups are gonna be costly. At say 4.00 per gallon.

noli 04-28-2008 09:57 AM

Yes and we have it "good".

Outside US borders, it bumps up alot. Case in point Bimini, Bahamas was charging $5.35 USD this past January.

Ouch!

And with twin Verados running at cruise at 2 miles/gallon.

Super Ouch!!!

Superbabi 04-28-2008 04:28 PM

not quite sure how good we have it, gas is out of control.
