Muhaha...

Someone sent me a p.m. indicating that this maybe the last 34 to be built for a while. that really got me thinking about the 34 and tot to myself...if no one buys her, I will go fast forward and hang twin outboards on the back.

I need to get out yonder very soon!

Noli the only flaw in your 5 year plan is that you aint gonna keep the boat more than a year or two....just like the rest of us around here....and hell with your track record thats being generous lol......

If i were you i would also think about resale....the market for a 34 with highly modified powerheads is slim to none...now the market for a 34 with STOCK tripples is a little broader and then the market for a 34 with twin 300xs is alot broader....the average guy can buy, run and maintain the thing....my .02 on that....

I want to ask for opinions on this. as I think the twin STR engines will come close to the performance of the Tripple 300XS

just looking at the pure math of it all (not including the extra torque that the tripples will have)

3 x 300HP = 900HP tripple 300xs

2 x 375HP = 750HP twin STR

- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -

difference is 150HP in favor of the tripples

but now:

remove from that 150 surplus, the extra weight of the 3rd motor

remove from that again the drag of the extra motor

it would seem that the tripples, and this is just comparing pure HP numbers, is ahead by no more than 60HP or 70HP

according to STR, the heads need a refresh every 500 hours.

Simple answer, a 30-32- cat twin 300xs. 100 + Done The End.

Go with the 2 STR's and get that bad boy in the water.
What is rigged weight with fuel? 5500lbs +/-
So with twin 300's it should be some where near 74+/- and
Twin STR's 750 = 81+/-

I only want to make history in these web pages if we can introduce a new power source to us enthusiasts.

A power source that is forward thinking and out-of-the-so-called "box" thinking

...yes I will be the guinea-pig for my fellow SB bruthas

...and try out STR

...follow this thread for more upcoming info

just completed email exchanges with Shaun at STR

he also does mods on 300X outboards creating upwards of 375 HP

he currently is completing the testing of a pair of 300X with 375HP. He's testing on his 28 foot cat and is getting some phenominal high end numbers!

these engines are up for sale at $13K each.
