Can't See that being comfortable for the 2hr run w/ passengers.
If you can pick your times to run, the LIS can be an easy run... if you can't pick your times, there's gonna be days(not many) where you'll be F*cked!!!
This aint like running the hudson river north. Your passengers may not like to run at 60mph cruise.
IMO, a heavy boat will give you a nice ride, and you can slow it down a bit when it gets ugly out.
If you had to take a car service back to the city those 2-3x a summer where you couldn't run the boat, it wouldn't be the worst thing... sure would be cheaper than buying a boat that could do everything.

And do you plan on doing this all year or just May-Sept?
Edit: Sorry, just read 45 round trips a season... i'm gonna 'assume' that a trip a week?

Also, coming from lower west side of the city, you could always run the ocean.

Something along the lines of this would make a nice 9month a year commuter...

and go twin or trip o/b.

Also another option I'd personally consider would be a PROTECTOR BOAT. they're ugly and not exactly skater speeds. But a big one 35` TARGA would be a reliable 75+ mph boat..... Get it with a curtain for winter and it'll be useable and comfortable 10+ months a yr

The timing for the long haul trips is during the week from April thru October. No passengers.

I'm all for going for it in the rough but don't want to damage my back doing it.

There will be a number of days in that April/May and Sept/Oct period where you won't want to be in anything less then 40' of deep V and even then you are going to have to throttle back a bunch to avoid beating yourself up.. Any flexibility on when you run ? Just thinking about running the length of LIS in one of it's snotty NorEasters is making the clam chowder I had for lunch tickle the back of my throat.

Running that many hours each year, I'd be looking at stock outboard power to avoid rebuilds each year too.

It's mostly time flexible.

If the winds and waves are high or thunderstorms are around I don't go.
the basic idea is go east on Friday morning and west on Tuesday morning.

Of weather is non cooperative I drive.

In general, LIS is calmer in the mornings than afternoons. But really it's wind dependent wave action.

The concept is that boating will reduce total travel time by avoiding traffic.

The trips on those days mentioned, traffic won't be so bad.
