Key time do u have someone local u recommend for prop work?

Superbabi 10-09-2013 04:33 AM

The Y2k that OCC JOE and TED G are talking was my boat, known AS Superbabi. Boat was a 2005, Blue Printed at the factory by RICK FX 10, left the factory with the first Merc 600 sci, Best we saw was 82-83 mph. Boat was upgraded with a Ron Potter 800 efi N/A Best we saw was 92-93, Great boat. Had to be real careful with the XR Drive, we had blown the xr two times, as OCCJOE was talking about, your going to need a upgraded drive to handle that Hp.Good Luck, The Y2K are one of The Best Looking Boats Out There.Gary

My y2k. I brought home a trophy form the Loto shootout this year. First time running in it. My new motor didn't get done in time so this is running my spare 540 motor with no time for prop testing. 82mph.

Nice vid!

Sorry I missed your question. The only prop work I had done was some cleaning up and that was near Wichita at The Prop Dock. I think Brett at BBlades is recommended more than anyone on OSO. May wanna ask some of the other LOTO folks.

I was a little curious about your video before you edited it and took that last statement off there . ( 82mph at 4700 rpm's and motor red lines at 6800 ) .. I have to know what cam and intake your running to be able to turn to 6800 ? Have you seen this pull on a dyno or did your builder just tell you 6800 red line ?

My new setup I will be spinning a 7k naturally aspirated with twin dominators , custom ground cam and some AFR 385's . Trying to hit close to 1000hp N/A .

A buddy of mine had my go pro and surprised me with the video and thought it redlined at 6800 for some reason. The new motor hits max torque at about 5300 to 5600. I saw the video and asked him to remove that last part. He does a awesome job of making these videos though!

gotcha ! I was hopping you had a cam card to share with me . So your still trying to find the right prop ?

1.5 xr ?????

Yes. I have two props that should be coming in today to try so well see. I don't see why I wouldn't be able to get low 90s out of the boat it i can get the slip number down. The good ole calculator is telling me if i can get it from 86 mph and 17 percent slip at 5000 down to 11 percent slip and get the rpms up 300 to 5300 I will be a 95mph. I see tearing the top end down and port and polishing in the near future. Also I'm running EMI thunder manifold exhaust right now so if anyone has exhaust laying around let me know.

Are you turning your drive left or right ? I have set of CMI E-tops and tubes that don't even have the new run off them yet that you can get for $2000 plus shipping

Supreboat in 10-18-2013 06:03 PM

I am running it right hand right now. I have been talking to my performance shop about switching it to left. He is trying to talk me out of it. He says that a drive that has been ran right hand with high hp and then switched and ran left hand with even more hp isn't going to last long at all. He thinks run it right till it lets go then rebuild it and run it left after that. He also says that the left hand drive puts even more stress on the top cap. Is what I am being told correct?

Supreboat in 10-18-2013 06:05 PM

The boat does lean a little to the left with this big of a prop witch I don't really like. Other than the lean is there any advantages to running it left?

My drive broke after about 10 hrs running left. The drive had about 210 hrs. on it with a 525efi. Coincidence? Who knows?

OCCJoe 10-18-2013 07:02 PM

The jury is still out on switching after running too long in one direction however there are a lot of guys that switch every season . Coen learned that the Y2K's ride straight when you turn the drives left hand . It was discovered during all the testing on superbabi . I think after that it became standard to turn all of them left hand . Faster I don't know but you won't have to use any tabs and scrub speed .
When did you buy the race fairing from Coen ? He had one sitting there ready to ship out so I'm sure that's the one you got . Wanted one ever since I wanted a Y2K but the wife says she won't ride in it if I have it on .

FWIW, I've been swapping drives side to side with no issues in my Cig Mystique. I run them 35 hrs and swap side to side. Might as well get some life out of the back side of the gears.
