I just bought a y2k Superboat

I went from owning all checkmate boats to buying a Superboat y2k. I live in the Midwest and do a lot of boating at the lake of the ozarks where the water gets really snotty. I hope this boat handles the ozarks as well as I am hoping from reading all the y2k posts on hear. Also wanting to do a few more up grades to the already professionally built 575 in it. I will be installing the cmi large tube headers on it next week. My goal is to break the Almighty 100mph mark. Has anyone hit a 100 in the y2k( and im talking a legitimate 100). If so how does it handle at those speeds. 100mph in a single engine v hull i can imagine has the potential to get hairy quick. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Hoping
to win the shootout this year at the lake of the ozarks for my class. I also have a checkmate 253 convincer for sale if you know anyone looking. Very fast. Just had a custom 640hp 540 built and put in. It has probably about 10 hours on it so far.

OCCJoe 01-29-2013 11:42 PM

There are a few Y2K's that have seen 100 . I'm hoping to get there now that I've lost the Konrad with its tranny . Gonna throw my motor back on the Dyno as it will take all 800hp to get there . If not I have a 2K upgrade to make another 100 hp and then I know I'll break into the triple digits .
Reinforcer runs over 100 but kills drives doing it like myself and anyone else with a big HP single .. Get a drive to hold and its very doable .

One last thing , With the bottom on an 02 model like yours it gonna take 1000hp to see 100 unless flip it and stick it . But then the smart will say blueprinting is the best money you'll ever spend to go fast

Supreboat in 01-30-2013 07:42 PM

Is the old hull really that much slower? Is the old hull dangerous at high speeds, you are talking about flipping and sticking? What should the old hull be running with a 575 pushing 650 hp?

Supreboat in 01-30-2013 07:42 PM

XR drive

Supreboat in 01-30-2013 07:44 PM

Should be close to 700 after installing the cmi headers and a Dino tune

Supreboat in 01-30-2013 07:48 PM

By the way. Your boat is one good lookin y2k. The black rocks. I like the rig to.

Ted G 01-30-2013 09:25 PM

Congrats on the new boat. I have seen some rough water at LOTO but none I would think was too bad for a Y2K. But I have not been there on a huge weekend like Shootout so take that for what it's worth. I have been in lot's of rough water on the Chesapeake Bay and never wished I had my 31 Formula back. My boat has had as much as 850 in it and didn't hit 100, but came close, 900 might get you there.

TedG's boat had the first 600sci when it left the factory . It also has the same bottom yours has and it did low 80's . Then it was taken to 700 and only got to the mid 80's ..Finally got the 800EFI potter motor and got into 95mph range . Superbabi could tell you more accurately but I think I'm close to the correct numbers ..Mine has the latest designed bottom and ran 95 with 800 hp also but the difference is I had the bulky Konrad drag and the HP loss of the tranny .. Your gonna need close to 1000hp to hit triple digits ..

Thanks for the complements on the boat . I was gonna do a custom paint job when I bought it but the black and white is just so clean and sexy i decided to keep it for a while

Supreboat in 01-30-2013 11:33 PM

Thank you Ted. I am pretty excited about it. Do u live around the ozarks? Have you had the y2k there. What was the reaction? No one has heard of or seen a super boat around here. I have been talking to John and am really going to try and get him some business as I would really like to see him keep Superboat alive and would also like to have some to run with here. I'm going to try and get a dealership or two interested in them. Who wouldn't want to keep up with the bigger boats with a single engine v and burn less fuel. I'm hoping to keep up with the 35 to 38 footers out here in the poker runs. While in Miami testing it I was very impressed. As i also think most loto people will be. fountains are a big thing hear and there is no doubt this boat handles better than a junk fountian. I blew the doors off a 35 cigarette cafe racer. He couldn't keep up in the waves I was running in. He was proposing like crazy and I was running flat and ontop the waves. Very impressed but a little out of my element out there.

Supreboat in 01-30-2013 11:34 PM

Also what drives are you guys running now?

Ted G 01-31-2013 05:56 PM

No I live on the Chesapeake BAy in MD. I have not had my boat to LOTO, just have boated there a little. Mine has an XR 1.50 drive.

Supreboat in 01-31-2013 09:08 PM

Here is me and some buddy's and there toys on the river here in saint Louis. The checkmate is mine. Just got done putting a professionaly built 540ci 625hp motor in it with cmi headers. Only about 10 hours on the motor and has a year left on the warranty. Looking to sell the checkmate. I will sell with or with out motor or with stock motor. I will make a good deal on it.

scarab63 02-01-2013 07:49 AM

Awesome vids. Give that airplane a cam for some y2k shots come spring

The Means 02-01-2013 10:45 AM

The green cat hit 102-103 in this video but has been known to run just shy of 110.

Keytime 02-01-2013 04:51 PM

I'd love to get a ride in this Y2K at LOTO this year. Let me know if you don't mind and we'll meet up sometime. We have a place at the 3.5mm of the Osage (main channel).

Thanks,
John

Supreboat in 02-01-2013 06:15 PM

It is a American Off Shore 26 nsx with 850hp. It tops out at 110mph. It Is straight NASTY!!!! If u look at the six minute video it will show the tattle tale at 109mph.

Supreboat in 02-01-2013 06:16 PM

The planes wing almost got taken out by the rooster tale.

Supreboat in 02-02-2013 09:21 AM

Keytime I would be more than happy to take u for a ride in the y2k. Who knows Maybe u can go along for a poker run even. Do you have a picture of your boat? I believe I may of talked to you before as I am a pretty big checkmate fan. Do they have a house that rents right by you?

Our place is on Hickory Rd on Horseshoe Bend in Lake Ozark right next to the mouth of Downing Branch Cove. There used to be a house for rent up the street but I don't see it listed any more. The Jonathan's Landing condos are just a little further in the cove and there's another condo complex on the next point toward the dam called Tara, I believe.

The pic is my Checkmate in the 2011 Shootout. Thanks, Jayboat!

73. Looks faster in the pic. lol I pulled 73 3 years in a row in the NV2S2 class uncontested. Nobody else shows up, unfortunately.

It has the bone stock 454 EFI Mags with 27P 3-blades.

Sorry for the hijack. Back to our regularly scheduled programming...

Supreboat in 02-03-2013 10:12 PM

I will be running in the shootout this year. You going to?

If I still have the Checkmate, most definitely. Spectating just ain't the same. :)

Keytime 02-05-2013 11:48 AM

BTW, did you consider that 2005 Y2K in the classifieds as well when you were shopping? Looks like another really nice boat.

Congrats on the Y2K purchase.

Here's a pic of mine. It's the boat on the SB website. 525efi/XR/ITS.

I personally love ALL go fast boats, and enjoy running with anyone who wants to have a good time on the water.

Here's a thread showing why myself and others won't be tied up next to your new friend "Supreboat In"

Keytime 02-06-2013 01:36 PM

Um... yeah. Superboat... some advice: tone it down a bit. I think many of us are competitive and like wringing the boats out, but try a more humble approach. I'm aggressive in my boat as well, but I've been on the lake long enough to know I can have my azz handed to me in 2 seconds by a number of boats out there. It's possible for everyone to get after it, rib eachother, but keep it a bit more respectful. Just my $.02.

So was it a 35 or a 38 you blew the doors off? One thread says 35 other says 38.

Lol. I'm just waking up the forums on here. If I didn't want to start a little stuff and get people a little frazeled I wouldn't of post Baja killer on the Baja forum. All in fun and games. If people wanna get all serious they should get a life other than a forum. I look around and everyone's talking about how dead it was and BAM!!!! Look at it now lol!!! Good entertainment. Really I could care less if I win or lose a race. I know there is always going to be someone faster. I will have just as big of a smile getting passed as I will passing. Phragle.....Work hard play hard!!! Never been givin anything.

lol Rock and roll! Sounds like an opportunity to shake the winter blues out of a few boats at the Spring Harbor Hop. ;)

Edit: I think you need to start at the dam and tell everyone what time you plan on blasting all the way to Captain Ron's or Big Dick's. Then boats can come out from wherever they might be and run you when you come by. Now that would be kickazz. Heck, you might be surrounded by a mob of Bajas by the time you get there! :evilb:

Set a time and lay down the gauntlet. I believe you did challenge an entire brand of boat.

You better set a time soon. The natives are getting restless!

Supreboat in 03-04-2013 08:15 PM

Anyone know where I can find new driver and passenger seats for the y2k. I am wanting something a little sportier and better looking than the ones that came in it. Mine are the rounded top seats.
