Re: My next boat: Y2k!
Rick,
Does the cabin bench's have storage under them? |
Re: My next boat: Y2k!
Also, have you ever built a glassed in cooler under the rear cockpit bench with a drain?
|
Re: My next boat: Y2k!
Tom,
There is'nt much room under the cabin benches, maybe for ropes or something, but it's only around 8" tapering to the outer stringer, which is only around 4". And the two stringers are only 6.5" apart. as for a cooler under the rear seat. All the Y2K's come with it. As far as the drain. I'll pick one up myself for your cooler ( and yes Keith !! You too). I'll make sure they all have them from now on. Believe it or not, it's an option. As far as progress goes. The stringers are completely glassed in. Tomorrow the bulkheads go in. It's moving right along. I'll try to have pics tomorrow. Rick |
Re: My next boat: Y2k!
Yeah thats what we need.... more pics.... keeps the natives from getting restless!
|
Re: My next boat: Y2k!
Nice! I'll take whatever space there is under those cabin bench's if I can have access.
|
Re: My next boat: Y2k!
Tom,
Ask JC about small acess hatches. Don't tell him you heard it from me. Rick |
Re: My next boat: Y2k!
Thanks Rick! Right now that area is used for extra lines and a few tools, etc. I like the idea of it being a cooler, tell me more about the drain, etc.
As I build the stereo cabinet I can free up the bench for some nice, iced adult beverages...... |
Re: My next boat: Y2k!
Keith,
It's no more then drilling a 7/8" hole where the 3/8" hole is. and screwing it in with 2 #8 sctrews. PM me your address, and I'll get one out to you. Rick |
Re: My next boat: Y2k!
Tom,
Here's the hull with the stringers glassed completely in. I wanted to get the bulkheads in, but I had to hop on Babi for a few hours. Tomorrow the balsa core in the hull will be completed. I'll have pics. Rick |
Re: My next boat: Y2k!
Keith,
What bench are you referring too ? Tom is referring to the cockpit back seat for the cooler. |
Re: My next boat: Y2k!
Balsa core, I can't wait for the pics. How much of the boat is Balsa? How much is the other stuff? (baltek??)
|
Re: My next boat: Y2k!
Hey Rick, we're on the same page - the rear underseat bench can be used as a cooler - I like the idea, but don't worry about sending me a plug, I can do that no sweat if I decide to use it that way - right now storage is a premium and we're always packing a cooler at the house anyway.
BTW, I added pop up mushroom cleats fwd of the exisiting cleats - when rafting up with some big boats like we often do, there is no room for lines and fender ropes. I found some awesome SS pop ups and mounted them 4" fwd of the rear cleats, still looking at doing two more on the midship cleats too. Will post a pic when the 5200 dries and I clean 'em up....... |
Re: My next boat: Y2k!
