Those Panteras are heavy. A 24 with a 250 O/B ran 65...compare that to my 71mph 250 SUPERBBOAT
. I'll dig up the link for the non-believers
. Not saying they aren't built well...just heavy. I like the new 36 SURVIVOR....

My 1997 24' Super is 150-200lbs lighter than my 1989 24' Pantera; I had them both on the scale...
When I first got my 89 Pantera, she was powered by a 330HP(at the crank) 7.4 carb motor with stock through the prop exhaust. She would run about 60mph. I installed Imco stainless risers and through hull muffler tips.
She gained another 2-3mph. Then I added an Edelbrock intake and K&N filter. Another1-2mph to a top speed of 64-65...
Sold the Pantera and bought my 24' Super without power. I installed a stock Volvo Penta 7.4Gi rated 310HP at the prop. She ran a best of 67mph with the same 3 blade prop. My 24' Super is about 2mph faster than my Pantera was with similar power.
This year I'll be bolting in some real power hoping to crack the 75mph mark...

24 Pantera with blowered 454 425h.p. ...70mph (in classifieds).
DAVE M would smack that silly
- 24'SB/496H.O. combo I think will break 80.
-74.1 in a 30...24' is like 1500lbs. lighter?...I would think at least 10mph faster.....
-I know he ran best of 75'ish with 385h.p. ...but maybe more torque will offset the speed ratio of the 40 more h.p. jump!
GO DAVE M.

Hey Bash,
If someone has a blower motor in a 24' Pantera and it only tops out at 70, something is vary wrong with that setup...
The fellow that bought my old 24 Pantera installed a 600HP MRD 454mag blower motor. That boat was running in the mid 80s last I new...
I do agree that a 24' Super is faster than a 24' Pantera, I owned them both...
A 30' Super is one hell of an effecient hull in the 60-80mph range. SB30's boat runs in the high 60s maybe 70 with a 375HP/496mag. We ran side by side in the CT river run last year... A 28' Pantera with a single 496HO tops out in the low 60s, at least 10mph slower than a 30' Super...

Hey Bash,
Using a slip factor of 10 on the propcalc, I'm coming up with 79.5. Time will tell, I was hoping to start testing this weekend but the weather took a turn for the worse.
2 MORE WEEKS TILL BOATING SEASON!

I see these poll threads automatically go TTT after someone votes...even without leaving a reply. Good reason for Bash to officially post his already posted top speed.
