3 Attachment(s)
Hey Guys:

I'll have the new 21SS in Milford, CT for the rest of this week into Saturday for those that would like to take a look at her.

I'm going to try and display the boat at the Milford Oyster Festival on Saturday and will post here if it is definitely going to happen.

Then on Sunday, Morgan and I will take her to Candlewood Lake.

I can be reached at (203) 671-5138 or (203) 640-4009.

Ron

Full Throttle 525 08-13-2008 11:06 AM

Hey Guys:

Looks like I got the green light to display the boat at the oyster festival. Stop by on Saturday.

Ron

Can't believe this little hot rod won't sell like hot cakes. I'd take one of these over a restored Cig 20. What is the deadrise on this model? Bill

talon25 08-26-2008 09:08 PM

Bill, the boat has 20 degrees of deadrise and runs through the chop very well for a boat of it's size. The gel and paint work on the boat is perfect and the interior is awesome as well.

30ctsutphen 08-26-2008 09:08 PM

I'm telling you, wrong forum for a 20 FT you need to be beating that thing up over by americas cup and pavillion more often.
Hire some hookers to ride around on it and show off at the bars!!

Preferably topless!!!!
That stuff sells boats

30ctsutphen 08-27-2008 07:31 PM

I can't believe that post didn't get any coments.
This is tough crowd in here.LOL

Full Throttle 525 08-27-2008 10:24 PM

Hey Guys:

I'll be at Claudio's Friday and Saturday. Won't have the Sutphen though. Call me if anyone goes over 203-640-4009.

Ron

30ctsutphen 08-28-2008 09:13 AM

Cool ron, I may be over at some point this weekend I was there 2 saturdays ago and the gut was rough, Really rough IMO. I wouldn't have wanted to be out there in a 21 not even a sutphen 21.
One of the girls we had on board jumped onto the deck and grabbed a life jacket half way through.

She was pretty scared, two feeries had just passed through oposite directions so we may have been getting some big wakes too.

ChristianGott 08-28-2008 08:07 PM

the 26 will be out in branford beginning at 4:00 on friday...looking to ferry any interested rider to any local passenger supplied adult beverage destination....life jacket required...no DUI...gas fees based on the barter system....

30ctsutphen 08-29-2008 10:24 AM

C we are going out on sunday I think.
Weather looks better. you should find your way up to old saybrook.

We could meet in clinton or something too and you could show me some new places out that way.

SPITFIRE 08-29-2008 08:09 PM

Buddy of mine, Fobes on the board had an older 20'. Did handle pretty good but not like his Minx. Is there a value in increasing deadrise in a 20" boat? This little Sutphen is certainly a quality hotrod in my book, but what about making it a little more ocean worthy, as far as handling bigger water for the nuts that cant afford a 30+ foot boat, but aren't afraid of big water? Bill

30ctsutphen 08-29-2008 08:37 PM

Yeah, my 20 was a good boat but could have benefitted from a increase in deadrise for sure.

I am not sure what our old 21 ft NOVA (1973) was, but that boat was a good boat for being such a small package in the rough stuff.

Spitfire, My wife just started a comunications business with the name spitfire. She does alot of work in boston too.
Her grandfather when passing away froma brain tumor used to refer to our daughter as the spitfire before she was born. He never got to see her so we named the business that in honor of him.

30ctsutphen 08-30-2008 11:35 AM

Ron, Sutphen Boats should start supplying some of the loyal Sutphen owners some T shirts and deacals for our trucks.
The more you guys can get the name out there in the public eye the more interest in the boats.

This would be a very inexpensive way to advertise and it would get the name and logo out to the right places, The boat launches, marinas, bars and restaurants where boaters go.

Maybe sponsor some little events like local beach volley ball events etc. Get the name out there more.
Alot of people in our area know the sutphen name but they know them as those really strong older boats.

Thats not the image that I would think helps sell new boats.

Maybe even sponsor some car race teams,
I know GT1 teams (here in CT) that would put the sutphen name on the car for a few thousand dollars and they race side by side with Paul Newman.

Many car racers are also into the power boat thing.
I know a lot of drag racers who do both.

Sutphen is such a good company with an incredible history.
Theres a really good potential for increased sales I would think if marketed more agressively and it doesn't have to cost alot.

I was part joking with the hooker post but really I think the pavillion and americas cup are great places for a 21 ft boat to be showing off.

Its a tough economy but now is a good time to get things rolling so when the economy comes back and guys have alittle extra $$ to buy something they look for a sutphen and not some other make. You need to show sutphen as a lifestyle not just a boat.

Just thinking out loud.
I am excited to have sutphens being sold in CT again.

They know scarab , they know cigarette, fountain and, formula its about time they know sutphen.

ChristianGott 08-30-2008 02:13 PM

yeah, what he said...

CMC 08-30-2008 06:33 PM

Currently the 21 closed deck market is limited. How many 22 Donzi Classics do you think they sell in a year? Lets say its 50... I think if all those customers looked at Rich Jr.'s new model.....25 would buy one. I can tell you first hand that the Sut will out run and out handle a Classic. I've always told Rich that a showdown done by Powerboat or Hot Boat would be a great Idea, problem is that Donzi spends ALOT of $$$$$$$ with the big magazines.
I think one of the reasons they dont currently have the name recognition is that Sr. has not built many boats in the last 10 - 20 years.
Jr. is working his tail off to bring back the SUTPHEN name to the top. Once a few orders are placed...things will start to roll.
There is room to be excited about what Rich Jr. is doing. The 31 and the 27 will be smokin'.
That being said, shirts and stickers at a few poker runs will not hurt.

30ctsutphen 08-30-2008 07:04 PM

I know I will do my part to help get the sutphen name back to the top and I am sure all you guys are willing to do the same.
They just need to enlist us because your right once a few NEW suts get out there it will be a snowball effect but I think the best advertisement right now is current sutphen owners and the more of us showing off the name in more places the better.

It can only help the value of our boats as well.

talon25 08-30-2008 09:11 PM

so is this boat for sale ?
what are the spec's ?

dave911 08-30-2008 09:36 PM

America's Cup (still on the CT river?) rocks! Great place to show off boats, and pull tail.

Send me a Sutphen shirt to wear on the westcoast. My OSO t-shirt is getting a bit thin...

30ctsutphen 08-30-2008 11:08 PM

Nah dave theres no tail there.LOL

If you cant get some there you might as well pull the plug out of the boat for the ride home.
The bars down in newport and LA are't to shabby either.

Christ, all you have to do is say you have a screen play coming out and they fall over with thier legs in the air.LOL

I used to go to GLamis but Id start out in huntington beach. Meet up with my buddy SABI from recreation Unlimited and drive out to glamis man we had a blast out there.

I need to get back out there one of these days.

A couple friends of mine will be out for a wedding in san diego in few weeks you should hook up with them and go out for a few nights.
They will be going wild I am sure.
They are all from Bristol. In fact they made the movie the Bristol boys!
Have you seen it?
Its loosely based on a bunch of guys I grew up with over there.
I have copies for sale if anyone wants one.
$15.00

30ctsutphen 08-31-2008 11:51 PM

you need to post some pricing for new models in this thread.

30ctsutphen 08-31-2008 11:54 PM

morgan thanks for the call this morning.
Soory I had to run but I was late for the race at LVD. I ended up smokin the engine innthe drag car so I'll be spending even more time on the water.
LOL
It was great talking with you hope we can all get together at the CT river run if not before.

Full Throttle 525 09-02-2008 06:00 PM

Hey Guys:

The 21SS will be in Lake George this weekend. Maybe we'll see you. Don't forget we'll be at the Norwalk Boat show. Hope to have the new 21SSX. SHoujld be real sweet!!

Ron

SPITFIRE 09-02-2008 07:30 PM

difference between the SS and SSX?? Outboard??

Stormrider 09-02-2008 09:40 PM

i believe SSX is BBC 496 HO.

30ctsutphen 09-02-2008 10:33 PM

How about a twin turbo 383 or 406 with gen 7 dfi, that would make some HP and TQ numbers.

Full Throttle 525 09-03-2008 07:52 AM

The SSX will have upgraded paint, tabs, hydraulic steering, redesigned engine hatch, separate shifter and throttle, 496HO engine, and upgraded seats. If someone wants an outboard we can certainly do it.

Ron

Big Time 09-05-2008 02:24 PM

Ron, I think you mentioned that you were going to have a boat or two at the Norwalk Boat Show?

Full Throttle 525 09-05-2008 05:18 PM

Yes, we will have the 21SS and Rich Jr. is working on the new 21SSX. Morgan, Rich Jr. and myself will be there. We have a great spot throught the main gate near the big tent.

See you then,

Ron

A couple guys have expressed alot of interest in them.

haulin71 09-10-2008 06:42 PM

The hull has been lengthened, the deck is changed at the faring, the dash is new and the interior is the best its ever been. !!

I'm sure Morgan can tell you more.

30ctsutphen 09-11-2008 09:44 AM

Sounds like enough changes to be a new boat to me.

Very much like the differences between a spirit and a OP maybe more.

dave911 09-11-2008 12:46 PM

IMHO - Would like to see seperate throttle shifter (chrome gaffrig or other) on race-looking and performing 21...

I might tie up with my brother (gladhe8er) outside of the CT card stop (capt cove area) to watch all the boat come racing in. Should have a couple other boats tied up with us as well.

haulin71 09-11-2008 05:01 PM

BTW.....a 32 ...35 and 40 are already available to build. No wait for "retro's".
