Default Harley 883 Sportster...

Sister and Brother-in-Law picked up a 2004 883 Sportster Custom to learn and cut their teeth on. The Sportsters typically do not have a gas guage; as this one does not either.

Its the Custom model with the larger 4.5 Gallon tank. I found some conflicting info on the web about gas mileage/range. What is this tank/bike good for? They don't want to find out the hard way. I found one site that said 150 miles, and another that said 200 miles.

My wife had a 1200 Sportster but moved up to a big twin because she didn't like the little bike. Why do they even sell them?

maybe so some people can have a choice...and so everybody doesn't have to spend 20k on thier 1st bike. a 600 pound HOG might not be the best bike to learn to ride on

883 stock are good for 40-45 mpg- If it has Screaming Eagles, and has been dynojetted with the K&N it will drop 2to 3 mpg. Sportsters are great bikes- and if she is anything like my wife, why have 20k tied up in a Fat Boy that they only ride once in a while.
