I could be running just hot enough that you might be smelling it vent though the transmission, I am a GM guy but I had a tahoe one time that I had this happen to nothing on the guages but when I was towing I smelled something what it was doing was when the transmission fluid is at it fullest and you are running hard you can smell it vent, on GM at least they have vents on the trans. Dont know nuttin about Fords, just thought this could be. or maybe your always behing other fords and there trans are going out
