Been a GM man my entire life. NEVER, ever owned a Ford until I bought my '03 6.0 Stroke. 30k trouble free miles. Best truck I've owned to date. Thought about trading it off just to get something a little newer but I like it too much. There's something to be said about being out front. If I had any complaints it would probably be the mileage. Not too impressed with that part of the truck. Luckily I only put around 10k a year on my rigs.

My kids got an 06 2500 4dr Duramax HO/Allison , what a combination
I have a 7.3 PSD and that Duramax and 6 speed will kick its azz up one side of the road and down the other. Also much quieter , both engine noise outside and over all noise inside.

I have a 2004 GMC 2500 Sierra with the 6.0 diesel/Allison and Hypertech power programmer and pull my 28 td daytona 700 mi round trips through the rolling steep hills of MO. to LOTO from Omaha area. Absolutely no problems and has plenty of power, also very quiet. boat and trailer = approx 9 - 9.5k lbs.
Can't comment on the Ford, other than they're a nice looking truck.

I currently have a 02 F250 PSD chipped. Pretty good truck, motor is bulletproof however I have had my share of non related truck problems and as a result, I am in the process of buying a 06 D-Max 2500.

email me if you want lots of info..
But the long and short of it is...
we have both.
2006 4x4 crew cabs, Diesel, full factory equipment.
Both have about 12,000 miles on them.
the GMC is the LLY with 6 speed, not the HO LBZ.
I would return the ford if it was that easy.
I pulled a 14000 lb load about 400 miles with the ford...
Needless to say, I brough it back with the GMC.
Milage on the DIC was 8 and change with the ford, 10.2 with the GMC. Yes, I checked it manually too.
the GMC cruises 10-15 mph faster than the ford.
GMC is quieter
GMC stops better
GMC turns a heck of a lot better
and
GMC runs past the Ford and gives it a slap on the way by.
Anyone want to buy a Ford? I have a nice one for sale.
