All new BMW's come with free maintenance for the length of the warranty which is 4yrs/50k miles. Make sure you go back to the dealer and get your free oil changes,air filters,polen filters, complete brake jobs and even wiper inserts. For some reason BMW's do use alot of light bulbs. Those are all covered under warranty as well, just a pain to go to the dealer just for that. If you ever have any major issues let me know if I can help. I manage a BMW service/parts operation.

Did they offer a M5 with an auto trans? Do you guys think a E55 can be a daily driver for the wife?

the benz will take it off the line(a hood length or so), but the M5 passes and pulls away as speed increases. Smoked the benz on the road course. Road and track got the M5 and M6 to hit 60 in 4.1 sec. With an m5 1/4 of 12.4

I don't think so!! Your article doesn't say anything about beating the E55AMG............but these articles says the E55 is faster

They are actually so close in speed it's probably a driver that can make the difference. The Benz is hands down better looking
BMW still has NO answer for the SL65 AMG (604hP montster)

My wife has a '03 745i that is coming off lease next month. We have been looking at the '06 750i and 545i and the Mercedes CLS 500 and S and E series. We have been driving these cars about every other weekend for a couple of months at different dealers. To us the Mercedes interior is not as nice as the BMW's. The Mercedes now have a very light plastic feel to them. The wood trim, leather, knobs and switches in the Mercedes feel very light and plastic were as the BMW wood trim is super nice upscale and the BMW interior is also more solid. 2 of the CLS cars had dash rattles. The BMW's seem to have more pep, drive nicer and have a better feel than today's Mercedes.
After all that test driving she now wants a new Porsche Carrera (997) S Cab!
