Tow vehicle options

My Ex handles 8k no problem, just make sure you get the diesel, the 5.4 or the v10 would kill you on resale, and the 8.1 in the yuk or sub would not be very wise either unless you like getting 6-8 mpg

The new V10 will do the job, you just get killed on fuel mileage- especiallyt if it's an everyday driver.
Duallys are good for one thing- pulling a load. Empty they ride like $hit and they're way too wide for drive-thru windows and car washes. Car washes is the big one- you'll be hand-washing it every time- a real hassle if you live somewhere that it snows. Then you have the launch ramp thing. 12K of load on a ramp NEEDS 4WD.
Rack storage is probably looking pretty good about now.

I live in a part of CT where there are hilly narrow winding roads, in my F350 PSD SRW it's a pain in the butt because it's my daily driver also. For me it comes down to the fact that I need to tow my boat which far overrides all other considerations. Get the vehicle that tows the boat the best and deal with the other crap. Ride, utility, comfort don't mean diddly when you have a fishtailing trailer behind you. Make sure it can LEGALLY handle the load too, if you're over the GVWR or you don't have the proper hitch/ball and you get in an accident, don't count on inusrance coverering you.BTW...There are no confines in an extra cab full size pick-up, quite cavernous as a matter of fact.

i agree with what others have said just get a vehicle to handle your boat and trailer properly and safely and you can deal with the other non towing probs

I get about 13.5 on the highway running at 70 empty, between 9-10 towing(I've got a 33 Baja) my 7.3 got about 11 towing 17 on the highway empty, with diesel cost plus the initial 5k tick on the diesel you need to factor that in.The best part about the V-10 is how quiet and smooth it is.I'm a big Ford truck guy and the 6.0 diesel kind of scared me as well.

If you are interested in an 8.1 in a GM vehicle you better hurry. The 8.1 will not be available in the new body style 07'.
I am a big GM guy myself, but if a strong SUV is what you want, the Excursion is great. I know a guy who pulls his 42 fountain with one.

I have the Ford F-350 Crew Cab Harley Edition with the powerstroke diesel in it. It is NOT a dually. I previously owned a 42 Cig that I pulled off the reese hitch. I now have a 46 Cig that I pull with a fifth wheel hitch. I have had absolutely zero problems pulling anything or stopping. I highly recommend.

I double checked the 10k lbs figure and I see that 10000 is the dry weight. With 173 gals of fuel and 30 fresh water this will put me at just under 12000 for the boat alone. Looks like I'm in diesel territory.

Cig says the boat ways something like 12K. Add trailer, fuel, etc. 17K? 18K?
Pulling with an SRW pickup? That's just nuts.
