Re: Trailer conversion to Disc ?
I added the slip over rotors to my Rocket Trailer. Worked fine, and wheel/tire offset was nominal.
My current McClain Trailer has the 1-piece hub/rotors. They work fine, and I like them. I guess the biggest disadvantage would be that its a pain to have them turned, but I don't know if that would ever be needed on a trailer brake system. Another disadvantage is you if you had a failure on the road, you would need to disconnect the brake at that wheel/hub, and replace with a standard hub. My trailer came with a full spare hub that the spare tire is mounted to. In case of rotor/hub combo failure, I would have to remove the caliper completely and cap off the line; when replacing with the standard hub. As I think about it; it would be better to have a spare rotor/hub combo over just the standard hub. I might do that.
Rippem, we are in the same neighborhood on weight. Mine stops very well with the brakes on just the rear two axles (since I had the coupler rebuilt). I'd love to have electric/hydraulic, but I would rather just buy a new Myco someday.

my reasoning is that if your trailering your boat , at say 65mph , get to the launch , and dunk with out the rotors cooling down somewhat from stopping , rotors will boil water so to speak from the heat dissapation..those rotors will warp imho..i'd rather have to replace a 60.00 rotor than a more expensive 1 piece unit..
if you can afford it , i would do all three , but again , it's just my opnion..
when i got this used trailer , 1 rotor was ate up ,so i decided to do what you see... i added the second set just for a more "ease" on my shoulders knowing 1 have 4 instead of 2.
i would belive that myco did ther homework and felt that 1 set was enough for the weight.. i belive you can never have enough stopping power...
