Brian, I'm planning to ride at Highland Park offroad park (KTM World) outside of Atlanta?? after the Maimi Boat Show. Are you familiar with that place?

Here's a fun old ride, its a 1970 Husqvarna 250 'Cross. 4 speed right side shift. For an old relic, it really works pretty well but the right shift will faaak you up if you get too comfortable!:drink:

Hey Craig, yes I finished the little KTM about a week after I got the parts from you. (Old School scored me a treasure trove of parts from Craigslist) It was an 85 but Craig hooked me up huge and the lot included a new complete 105 kit. This liitle bike was a screamer, I think it was over 30 hp. Thanks again bud, here's a pic.

I sold the little KTM a couple weeks ago, did some horse trading and ended bringing a new 2011 250 XC-FW (DOHC 4 stroke) home last Saturday. I've always been a 2 stroke guy but Dirtbike Magazine said I needed to have one of these!

Dave, I'd love to check out Durhamtown. We rode pretty much every weekend all year. I think I'm gonna buy some Trelleborg spike tires. We've got mimimal snow so with the spikes I could be out there hammering the woods!:drink:

Here's my '01 300EXC, If you ever get up to Maine, I'll show you some sweet riding. We can do a 100 miles loop from my house in about 5 different directions. I've probably got a bike for you to ride.:drink:

My brother has a hot rod shop and they did the work. Actually Steve Schmidt aka crew chief and offshore racer did the work. He works for my brother. He's talented to say the least.

Wow! Talk about bringing back some memories. My first bike was a Yamaha 60 (white and red) that I got when I was around 8 years old (1972ish). The throttle stuck on it one day and instead of killing it I was concentrating on unsticking the throttle and flipped it upside down on me on a set of railroad tracks that ran behind our house. Thank God for helmets! Bike was messed up so it got traded for an 80 (silver and purple). I believe the 80 was a '73. Somewhere in there I had a 100 for a short period of time before getting a Hodaka Combat Wombat ('74 or '75). I'll have to ask my Dad the exact years of the bikes and see if my mom still has any pictures I can scan. Loads of fun. I remember the neighbor that my Dad road with having a single cylinder 400 Yamaha. Great hill climber! My uncle rode for Husqvarna back in those days.

Biggus 01-06-2011 10:14 AM

-I had a Hodaka Super Rat 100 and a regular Wombat 125. I think the Super Rat was the most obnoxiously loud bike on the planet at the time. I can remember people screaming at me at the top of their lungs to shut that faaakking thing off! :lolhit: Sounded like an unmuffled chain saw from hell! :drink:

The Combat Wombat was a rightous piece in the day. It was a bike that I wanted badly but never owned.

Kurt

ya, them 500's are a fun ride..especially when your spitting stones at the rider behind you...he finds out real quick that your on a 2-stk 500... :)

Flyin-Bryan 03-25-2011 06:45 AM

Best part is that he has all the receipts, for the fresh motor and trans,I ended up paying what the receipt total was,and it was all done over the winter,I was looking at a lot of these and they were all listed as rebuilt, but nobody had any paperwork to back it up,as soon as this guy told me he had paperwork,it was a done deal,it will be about a month before I can get it to a place to air it out,it runs on race gas,but owning a boat it will be like using pocket change to feed it...:lolhit:

All trails are one way, rated with the diamond system similar to a ski area, 1 diamond beginner to 5 diamond Superman trails. We met up with a group of guys from Canada. Man, these guys could ride we spent all our time on the 4-5 diamond trails:drink::coolcowboy:

Picked up a KTM 525 earlier this year; what a capable dirt bike. But, I don't remember riding hurting as much when I was doing it as a teen.

Right now I'm riding a 92 KDX 250. The old gang I grew up with never stoped riding/racing. I like riding with them with there newer bikes and still kick there ass once a year on $450.00 POS.

I've read about everything you can read and watched every video on the KTM 300WX-C I think this bike was made for me it will be my next new one. I rode the KTM 500WX-C and was really impressed. I think for the Ozark Mountains the 300 I would be faster in the woods. I've never owned a KTM but it will be my next new bike.

Anybody old-school guess what helmets hanging off my handlebars?

billpor930 12-11-2014 02:28 PM

Used to ride various Bultacos including a 250 Bultaco-Metisse in TT scrambles races and a Yamaha 360 MX in short track events.

I went and picked it up last night:

I really had my eye on a KTM 450 WX-C Facotry edition, then I found this 2014 for about half the price, and almost new, plus a few upgrades.

Doesn't have the power of my 300 2 smoke, but might just be a little faster in the woods.

Nova, I think you would have no regrets picking up a 300 WX-C, great bikes. Also, HusaBerg and Huskies are basically the same bike as KTM if you run across that....

srx 780 12-12-2014 08:04 AM

Nova26, looks like jeremy mcgrath, showtime helmet, (bell) ?

You'll love the 300XC-W. -I've owned 24 KTM's to date, 6 of them 300's. Everytime, I've strayed from the 300 to a 4 stroke, I've gone back a few months later. Her's mine. BTW, Love the Showtime McGrath hat. Wore one for years, now a shelf trophy!

Dirt riding flat out rocks. Started riding in the late 60's. 53 yrs old now and still love ripping the woods. One of the benefits of living in Maine is unlimited riding. We can do a 100 mile loop from 6 directions right from the house.

He's a few others in the mancave.

If you enjoy technical stuff, rocks, rocks, rocks, roots and mud. You'll love it. The guys I ride with ride EVERY Sunday, year round. For most of them, it's there only hobby. Congrats on the new mount, sounds like you got a deal! -I've been to the KTM dealer twice this week, extremely close to picking up a Freeride.

When you say old school to me I think more along the lines of Marty Smith, not Jeremy McGrath!
